From the Longchen Nyingtik: The Realization of Samantabhadra's Intentions. From the Longchen Nyingtik: The Realization of Samantabhadra's Intentions. From the Longchen Nyingtik: Abiding in the Realization of Samantabhadra's Intentions. I prostrate to the mindfulness of Samantabhadra! The nature of mind, with its root severed, is like space; the nature of space has no object of space. Likewise, awareness cannot be shown by example, yet relying on skillful means, the essential instructions are explained. Like a precious treasure in the house of a poor person, although it is within oneself, one does not recognize it. Like the nature of poverty that does not change, those sentient beings of samsara who are obscured by the net of ignorance and conceptualization are truly pitiable! Like turning one's back on the genuine path, with a distorted perception that is extremely unpleasant. The proponents of eternalism and nihilism, sects unheard of, ascetics who cling to only one side, those misled heretics are truly confused! The nature of mind, primordially pure, is the realm of space; no matter how one searches with the objects of knowledge, it is like that. Like a silkworm binding itself with its own saliva, those who turn their backs on the meaning and are attached to meaning, those Shravakas with minds that obstruct are truly exhausted! The root of all samsara and nirvana is one's own mind, enlightened in a state without fabrication. Those who cling to a single perception of the Dharma wheel of dependent origination in samsara, due to ignorance, those self-proclaimed fabricated Buddhas are truly amusing! The nature of mind, primordially complete with its own power, those who enter into the womb of the original, unfabricated state, with discriminating thoughts that cling to the words of the two truths, those pretenders who fabricate and let go of what is, the Bodhisattva's path is far away! In the nature of mind without good or bad, acceptance or rejection, they taint it with the impurities of diligently accepting and rejecting. They transform the meaning of non-duality with the appearance of dualistic clinging, those who seek attainment in a place where there is nothing to be attained, the Kriya Tantra sect is truly strange! In the nature of reality without good or bad, increase or decrease, although the terms of view, meditation, and action are cut off, with a mind that clings to the reality of practicing skillful means and wisdom, those who cling to a sect that is distracted by doing what cannot be done, the conduct of the Upa Yoga sect is truly exhausting! The quality of mindfulness without inner, outer, or intermediate boundaries, in the nature of mind free from fabricated minds, those with conceptual thoughts that fabricate the profound and clear Mahamudra, the Yoga Yogi sect is truly narrow!

Without depending on causes, in the nature of mind; in the Dharma-nature of making the fruit the path; breathing out with the weariness of the root-winds and mind; with elaborations, The tenets of Anu are completely severed; in the mind-essence devoid of signs of body and speech; the mistaken view of seeing appearances and existence as deity forms; the clinging thoughts of mistaking sound and resonance as mantra; this is not seen by the path of Maha Yoga; from the experiential realization of Samantabhadra; the chapter establishing the tenets of the eight vehicles of mind, this is the first chapter. Hooray! In my own nature, the Great Perfection, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are perfected in being free from abandonment and attainment; the essential points of the instructions are perfected in the Great Self-Liberation; the essential points of the view are perfected in being free from permanence and annihilation; the paths of meditation are perfected in being free from effort; the Dharmas of conduct are perfected in being free from permission and prohibition; the essence of the fruit is perfected in being free from wishful thinking; even the term "perfection" is merely a mental construct. The essence of all Dharmas is Bodhicitta; the heart of all Buddhas is also Bodhicitta; the life of all sentient beings is also Bodhicitta; in Bodhicitta there is no conventional or ultimate. Saying "non-existent" and planting the eye of increase in emptiness; grasping "existent" and not fabricating with the mind in permanence; not grasping, not abandoning, the spontaneously free sphere beyond mind; a space free from all objects of thought and elaboration; in that, Because there are no artificial thoughts, virtuous and non-virtuous actions and their results are completely exhausted; what is the use of deities, mantras, and samadhi? I am not a Buddha attained through practice; in my own nature, the Great All-Pervading, how could it be possible to see by traversing grounds and paths? Therefore, without being bound by hope and fear like a worm, rest in the pride and freedom of a good view; emerge from the sheath of profound meditation and rest; rest in the pretense of a worm-like conduct; abandon hope and fear for the Great Fruit; in the state of mindfulness beyond meditation and non-meditation, the calculations of what to do and what not to do vanish into space; Bodhicitta beyond emptiness and non-emptiness; the space of original purity, liberating from the extremes of existence and non-existence; in the awareness that is beyond speech, thought, and expression, possessing the life-force of non-grasping antidote; the nature of naked stillness, spontaneously liberated, fresh; a space free from all effort and elaboration; abiding in a state free from increase and decrease in the three times; from the experiential realization of Samantabhadra, the chapter showing the Great Perfection, Primordial Liberation, remaining as it is, this is the second chapter. Hooray! That
