A discourse on the six perfections used by those who practice Chöd, Youthful Splendor. A discourse on the six perfections used by those who practice Chöd, Youthful Splendor. A discourse on the six perfections used by those who practice Chöd, Youthful Splendor resides. Homage to the Lord of Blood-Drinking Chöd. The essence of what is called Chöd is the realm of the six pāramitās. The definition is to sever self-grasping. The divisions are common and special. Among these, the implements suitable for the equipment of Chöd yogis are: the net of generosity, the seat of discipline, the cushion of patience, the conch of diligence, the knee-embrace of meditation, and wisdom is established as the form of a ḍāmaru. (ཀ) Net bag. It gathers the assemblies of generosity and is a vessel for the qualities of contentment and mindfulness. The word "net" refers to interconnected knots. The sound of "bag" implies a curtain, like the soft, smooth skin of a gazelle, sewn by a Brahmin woman with thread, like a loose and fitting covering, like a continuous connection. Being transparent without inside or outside is a sign of the purity of the yogi who holds it. The mind that views wealth as one's own, abandoning it in equality, only the immediate food and drink, openly revealing without pretense, whoever is accustomed to this conduct is liberated from the prison of samsara. Even enemies generate compassion when they see it, it is not a friend of the demon of miserliness, it is contentious with thieves and robbers, and is free from the eighty-one bad omens of jealousy towards the wealth and glory of others, and from sudden wandering spirits. This treasurer is suitable for the yogi, the powerful Milarepa. Whoever is free from the mind of hoarding is the pāramitā of generosity. (ཁ) Leather mat. With the sharp sword of the view of conduct, having cut the life of the wild beast of ignorance, having skinned it in equality, possessing the limbs of the vows of vidyādharas, the foundation of the stage of generation and completion is beautiful, placed on a mat with the three vows, avoiding pebbles, shards, thorns, etc., the thoughts that hinder samādhi. The arising of the wind deity on the soles of the feet, the interdependence is also perfected in endurance. It is the pāramitā of discipline. (ག) Stool. Stool refers to the actual object of Puri, symbolizing the palace of representation, on the cotton wool of bodhicitta, tied with great compassion.

Establish the mind factory of entering the Bodhisattva conduct, adorn it with the ornaments of the six perfections. Establish the life fortress of unwavering view, connect it with the rope of meditation without attachment. Tighten it with the pegs of encountering conduct, establish it in the manner of the great vehicle's spontaneous accomplishment. Arrange the dwelling place of conduct ascending step by step, cut off the elaboration of four pillars and eight beams. Abandon the illusion of noisy distractions, it is the mansion of self-liberation from the eight worldly concerns. Enduring all the suffering of heat and cold, is the perfection of patience. (E) The human leg bone trumpet. Supreme human leg bone trumpet, please listen to the explanation of the symbolic meaning, material meaning, and signs. From the limbs of an ignorant corpse, cut with a mind free from attachment and aversion. Take out the marrow and scrape and grind it, it is the symbolism of abandoning the inner and outer grasping. The mouth of the leg bone trumpet is the same, it is the symbolism of all dharmas being non-dual and of one taste. The root has the union of yak nostrils, showing the union of Buddha's speech. Below is a pennant with hanging tassels, which is the meaning of following the accomplished ones. It has a hollow tube for remembering emptiness, which is the meaning of the Middle Way that does not abide in extremes. Blowing is based on the interdependent relationship of the wind, correctly inserting the monotonous sound into the central channel. Hearing agitates the minds of ghosts and spirits, listening transforms self-appearance and other-appearance. The first blow is to offer to the guru, the second blow is to subdue appearances, the third blow is to invite guests, the fourth blow is to dedicate without victory or defeat, the fifth blow is to directly cut off the grasped and the grasper. In order to wake up from the sleep of laziness, it is the perfection of diligence. (F) Meditation belt or knee wrap. In order for the body to rely on the kneecap, therefore wrap it around. The beautiful ornament of the yogi's upper body is the actual mother, Vajravarahi. It revolves symbolizing the single bindu, having the nature of the single essence, the three corpses. Having a network of chakra places, the outer appearance is a beautiful ornament, the inner is the nature of emptiness. In Tibet, it was taught by the great translator Vairochana, it is a component of the Vajra Bridge. If you do not understand the necessary explanation, just wearing it with a showy mind is like an old dog缠绕丝线. If you know the key point, in order to gather all manifestable dharmas, it is the perfection of meditation. (G) Cho drum. The Cho drum has the three paths of samsara, nirvana, from the forest of samsaric suffering, with the sharp sword of nirvana, cut off the grasped and the grasper.
