Since it does not abide in the realm of knowable objects, It is free from the dharma of grasping at "I" and "mine." In it, there is no meditation or object of meditation, If left in its uncorrected naturalness, it is seen nakedly. If one's own essence does not change into something else, Then the grasping of ignorance cannot lead one into samsara. External objects and the Attachments to self, Are not made by an agent but arise from the increase of mental thoughts. All arise from a ground and root that do not exist, Perfected from the very moment of arising as unborn. There is no need to have any other realization than that. Reading, holding, meditating, and the mind of treatises, If all are destroyed in the tenets of the mind, That itself is the Buddha without longing. Especially the unsurpassed Tögal (thod rgal, leap over), Seeing the clarity of awareness directly, there are few mistakes. The outer arising of earth, stones, mountains, rocks, the appearance of places, The great elements with gross stains exhausted, The path of wisdom, the great clarity of light. By making it manifest, the inner arising of Trekchö (khregs chod, cutting through), Even that which could not be purer than particles, Ripens into the great transformation of the Vajra Body, For the sake of others, until samsara is not empty. Therefore, with one's own school's intellectual, The view, meditation, conduct, and result are all superior, To properly distinguish its characteristics is the key instruction. Although it is so, the sudden circumstance of self-grasping, Before it dissolves into the expanse of the pure Dharmadhatu, The collections of thoughts that deceive by sudden circumstances, Ultimately become the lord of the nature of samsara, Therefore, it obscures those with initial karma, Calm abiding and insight, the essence of one and, The two ways of guiding separately, In the former aspect, the meditation of the abiding aspect and, The wisdom of the clear aspect, through the union of calm abiding and insight, It is established in the meaning of non-duality. In the latter aspect, two distinctions are also established, That is, arising from wisdom and arising from oral instruction. That which arises from wisdom conforms to sound, Focusing single-pointedly on the meaning of what is heard and calm abiding, and, From that, realizing the meaning is the characteristic of insight. That which arises from oral instruction follows the meaning, The mind is unmoving, which is calm abiding, Its nature is knowing, which is insight, In short, the best transforms bad thoughts into Dharmakaya, If good and bad are equal, there is no need to rely on antidotes, The middling, through familiarizing the path of the union of intrinsic purity, All good and bad thoughts dissolve into the expanse. The worst initially seeks only calm abiding, What

If one obtains stable calm abiding and becomes accustomed to individually examining wisdom, eventually, just as one cannot find soil and stones on the Isle of Gold, whatever thoughts of mind and mental events arise, they will appear as the great primordial liberation, inseparable from appearance and mind. Whatever supreme methods arise, do not negate them, and there is nothing to affirm. If you do not follow after them and do not waver from your natural state, you will attain all the qualities of purified faculties, such as the divine eye, the buddha eye, and clairvoyance. If thoughts are connected with objects, they are ordinary. In the awareness that is clear like a mirror, the objects of appearance are unceasing and shine like stars, but if it is not stained by the discriminating mind, the connection between the object to be grasped and the grasping mind is severed. Now, one has reached the ground of the wisdom guru, the self-cognizant, non-discriminating state. In short, the path of space is the single nature of reality; the path of awareness is distinguished by wisdom; the path of luminosity is the two lamps; the path of trekchö is simultaneous arising and liberation; the path of tögal is space and awareness. Know that these are the uncommon five paths of the Great Perfection of Naturalness. From the companionship of ignorance and the deception of delusion, in the terrifying wilderness of endless samsara, from this day forward, feeling weary of being bound by the iron chains of karma and afflictions, generate a mind of renunciation and approach the supreme path of nirvana in the peaceful, sacred city. This concludes the twelfth chapter, "The Collection That Shows the Uncommon Path of the Great Perfection of Naturalness," from The Treasury of Qualities, called "Joyful Rain." Chapter Twelve.
