Beginning from the auspicious days of the Miraculous Month (Tibetan New Year, January) in the Earth Sheep year, with the favorable conditions arranged by Ananda Guna, the attendant of the great personage who is eminent with the wealth of outstanding faith and generosity, and established by the assembly of Jamyang Lodro Thaye, the foremost among the scholars, celibates, and accomplished ones, praised not just once but multiple times by the vajra prophecy as an emanation of the great translator Vairochana, at the place where hundreds of traditions converge, the great Dharma hall of Pal Dege Lhundrub Teng (present-day Dege in Sichuan), namely the retreat chamber of the Lama's residence, Phende Kunkhyab Ling. Blessed by the great Khenchens, Vajradharas of the glorious E-wam lineage, who have appeared in succession, and by the great beings who have attained the position of the great upholders of the teachings, in the auspicious and virtuous chamber, starting from the tenth day of the waxing moon of the fourth month in the Earth Sheep year of the fourteenth Rabjung (1859), the family of scholars of Brangti (present-day Purang County in Ngari Prefecture) was born. With the guide, the sole protector of existence and peace, the great Vajradhara Jamyang Namkhai Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo as the chief, we, the assembled ones, opened the profound new terma, the mind practice of all the peaceful and wrathful deities of the Sugatas, from which the breath of the dakinis has not yet faded—the Dispeller of All Obstacles—and the great mandala of the Union of Profound Treasure Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Spontaneously Accomplished. In order to manifest the common and supreme accomplishments, the branch of approach; as a preparation for the means of accomplishment, the branch of near approach; in order to diligently engage in the means of accomplishment, the branch of practice; in order to unite with the result of that means, the branch of great accomplishment—that is, through the gathering of the assembly practice possessing the four branches of approach and accomplishment, may the precious teachings and the unsurpassed benefit of beings be spontaneously accomplished! Shubhamastu! This was written by Khyentse Wangpo, the servant who pleases the Lotus-Born Guru. This is merely a brief list of the types of blessed substances randomly selected from among the collections of relics. To describe each of their origins and virtues in detail would be endless, namely the history of the terma texts and sacred substances.
