The Sadhana of Manjushri, the Lion of Speech, Condensed into a Concise Essence, the Oral Instruction of the Supreme Accomplished One. The Sadhana of Manjushri, the Lion of Speech, Condensed into a Concise Essence, the Oral Instruction of the Supreme Accomplished One. This is the Sadhana of Manjushri, the Lion of Speech, Condensed into a Concise Essence, the Oral Instruction of the Supreme Accomplished One. Homage to the Guru, the Lion of Speech! Any intelligent person who is governed by renunciation and the two bodhicittas, in order to quickly approach the wisdom of the all-seeing, desiring to practice the samadhi and dharani door of Manjushri, the Lion of Speech, should follow this and receive the transmission and instructions well, and be endowed with vows and commitments. One should enter into yoga in a solitary and delightful meditation chamber. There are three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminary: In the space in front, visualize the refuge field with the Lama Manjushri as the main figure, clearly appearing as if actually present. In their presence, practice refuge, bodhicitta, and the four immeasurables as in the common practice. Second, the main practice: Oṃ svabhāvaśuddhāḥ sarvadharmāḥ svabhāvaśuddho'ham. From emptiness, on a seat of crossed blue lions, in the center of a lotus and moon mandala, the essence of one's own mind is the red seed syllable DHĪḤ. In front, also on a lotus and moon, is the blue seed syllable HRĪḤ, like the color of indigo. From these two, light radiates, offering to the noble ones, dispelling the darkness of ignorance of all sentient beings. The light gathers back and dissolves into the two syllables, DHĪḤ completely transforms, and in an instant, one transforms into the noble Manjushri, with a red body, one face, and two arms. The right hand (in later texts it says the two hands form the teaching mudra, but the original ancient texts only have this one view, and as an example, where there are discrepancies between the following text and later texts, the original ancient texts are retained.) raises the flaming sword of wisdom in the sky, and the left hand holds the stem of an utpala flower with the thumb and forefinger at the heart, with the petals open at the level of the ear, upon which rests the Prajñāpāramitā in Eight Thousand Lines. Adorned with all the ornaments of silk and jewels, with a peaceful, smiling, and elegant demeanor. The hair is in a topknot.

At the top, which is erected upwards, it is marked by a wish-fulfilling jewel blazing, and the remaining five locks of hair hang to the left. Abiding in the vajra full lotus posture, at the heart, from (Tibetan: བྷྲཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: भ्रूं, Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) arises a yellow four-spoked wheel, and in the center of the wheel stands a four-finger-long sword, with the red (Tibetan: དྷཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: धीः, Sanskrit Romanization: dhīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) on the double edges of the sword, surrounded by the root mantra. The syllable (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) in front is completely transformed, becoming the goddess Saraswati, with a bluish-green body, slightly wrathful, yet smiling, possessing a charming demeanor. Holding a sword and a book, adorned with silk and all precious ornaments. The dark blue hair is tied up on the crown of the head, marked with a jewel at the top, and the remaining part hangs down like willow branches. With both feet standing, she abides gracefully, and at the heart, on top of the moon, on the double edges of the four-finger-long sword is the blue (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable), surrounded by a chain of mantras. From the heart seed syllables of both the father and mother, rays of light emanate, inviting an inconceivable host of wisdom beings. (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ས་མཱ་ཛཿ ཛཿཧཱུྃ་བྃ་ཧོ, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra samājaḥ jaḥ hūṃ baṃ hoḥ, Chinese literal meaning: Om Vajra Samaja Jah Hum Bam Hoh) Meditate on the inseparability of the two, and abide in the samadhi of the illusory appearance of the deity for a long time. If you get tired of this, then do the recitation: From the seed syllable and mantra chain at your heart, rays of light emanate, and the outer container world is transformed into a palace, and all sentient beings within are placed in the state of Manjushri and his consort. Again, from the syllable (Tibetan: དྷིལ་དྷི, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: dhildhi, Chinese literal meaning: ) at the heart, countless (Tibetan: དྷི, Sanskrit Devanagari: धी, Sanskrit Romanization: dhī, Chinese literal meaning: ) syllables arise. They come out from your right nostril, enter from the mother's left nostril, and dissolve into the (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हूं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) at the heart. In the manner of being released from it, a chain of (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Sanskrit Romanization: hrīḥ, Chinese literal meaning: seed syllable) syllables arises from the right nostril. Entering from your left nostril, it transforms into the vowels and consonants mantra, filling the entire inside of the body. Even the pores of the hair are filled with the letters of the mantra, dispelling all the darkness of ignorance, and increasing the light of wisdom. Thus, as the chain of mantras continuously revolves, from within it, a swarm of wisdom bees, along with rays of light, radiates immeasurably in all ten directions. The blessings of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, and all the noble lamas, the wisdom of the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and the abilities of ordinary beings, are all gathered and dissolve into the crown of your head, making the body full of wisdom.
