From the mantra garland at his heart, light radiates, offering to the noble ones and purifying the two obscurations of all beings. A stream of nectar descends, purifying sickness, demonic influences, and sins. If you know the hundred-syllable mantra, recite it; if not, recite Oṃ Vajrasattva Āḥ as much as possible. Vajrasattva dissolves into light and merges indivisibly with me. Guru Yoga: In the sky before me, on a jeweled throne supported by lions, and on a lotus, moon, and sun seat, is the root guru, who is Buddha Vajradhara. His body is blue, and he holds a vajra and bell crossed at his heart. He is adorned with silks and jewels, and sits in the vajra posture. His three places are marked with the three syllables. Light radiates, inviting and dissolving the guru, yidam, Three Jewels, and the assembly of Dharma protectors and wealth deities. He becomes the essence of all places of refuge. Then, offer the mandala with the verse beginning, \"The ground is sprinkled with perfume...\" The guru is the Buddha, the guru is the Dharma, likewise, the guru is the Sangha, the guru is the glorious Vajradhara.

Having placed the Guru on the crown of the head, it dissolves into light as the essence of great bliss. By dissolving into oneself, one's own three doors and the secret three of the glorious Guru become inseparable. Thus, one rests in equanimity in the uncontrived state of naturalness, free from elaboration. Second, the main part is the union of generation and completion stages: Oṃ svabhāva śuddha sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ. From the state of emptiness, in an instant, one recalls the completion stage. On a lotus and moon seat, one visualizes oneself as Avalokiteśvara, white and radiant, with a peaceful smile, one face and four arms. The first two hands are joined in prayer at the heart. The lower right and left hands hold a crystal rosary and a white lotus. Adorned with the splendor of marks and signs, with silks and jewels, one sits upright in the vajra posture. At the three places, white Oṃ, red Ā, and blue Hūṃ. In the center of the heart, on a moon, white Hrīḥ. From that, light radiates, inviting the wisdom being similar to oneself, along with the retinue of the deity assembly, and they dissolve. One's own self becomes the essence of the union of all deities. Again, light radiates, inviting the root Guru, and through the stream of nectar, empowerment is bestowed. The body is filled, obscurations are purified, and in the center of the upward swirling, the Guru, the embodiment of all, the protector Amitābha, remains pleased in the form of the Lord of the Family. Thus, one rests in equanimity in the union of generation and completion stages, with the appearance as deity like an illusion, and the essence of mind itself uncontrived. The activity of recitation: With the light rays of the mantra garland at one's heart, one gathers the blessings of the speech of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I and all beings become the body of Great Compassion. In clarity, one recites the sound-empty mantra. Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ. To the best of one's ability. Then, one prays to the Bhagavan, the noble Avalokiteśvara, to bless me and all beings. The environment and beings dissolve into light, merging into oneself, in a state of radiant light, becoming the form of the union of Great Compassion. Third, the subsequent dedication and aspiration combined: With this virtue, may I and all sentient beings, in this life, have longevity, be free from illness, and possess the Dharma. In the next life, having been born in the pure land of Sukhāvatī, may we quickly attain the state of the protector Amitābha. Thus, having made dedications and aspirations as one knows how, one engages in conduct without separating the three—appearance, sound, and awareness—from the path of deity, mantra, and dharmakāya. This was spoken at a gathering of thousands of people, during the explanation of the common parts of the generation and completion stages of this path, under the blessings of the Guru, Jamyang...
