Homage to Manjushri! Manjushri bestowed the great treasury of secrets, and relying on the treatises of the two great chariots, all Sutra and Tantra arose as instructions. The extensive explanation of how the Venerable Tsongkhapa Lobsang Drakpa viewed philosophy can be found in the Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Lamrim Chenmo), the Explanation of the Root Text of the Middle Way (Madhyamakavatara), the Distinguishing of the Definitive and Interpretive Meanings (Drangnges Namdrel), the Empty Talk that Opens the Eyes of the Fortunate by the Two Foremost Sons, the Guide to Views that Dispels the Darkness of Wrong Views, and especially the Clear Lamp of the Five Stages of Guhyasamaja, which explains the method of uniting bliss and emptiness in Tantra. It is impossible to elaborate further here, but to summarize: None of the phenomena of samsara and nirvana are found to be truly established from their own bases, not even a particle. However, what is merely designated on the basis by people and concepts is established by valid cognition in conventional truth. Because all phenomena are empty of their own essence, in conventional truth," }, { "original_tibetan": "དེ་དང་དེར་སྣང་ཞིང་བྱ་བྱེད་སོགས་འཐད་ལྡན་དུ་འཇོག་ཤེས་པས། རང་བཞིན་གྱིས་གྲུབ་པ་ཐ་སྙད་དུ་ཡང་ཁེགས་ཀྱང་། ལས་འབྲས་ལ་སོགས་པའི་བྱ་བྱེད་ཐམས་ཅད་གཞན་ངོ་ཙམ་ལ་སྐྱེལ་མི་དགོས་པར་རང་ལུགས་ལ་ཡང་ཚད་གྲུབ་ཏུ་ཁས་བླངས་པས་ཆོག་པར་མ་ཟད། རྟེན་འབྲེལ་གྱི་ཆོས་ལ་ངེས་པ་དྲངས་པ་ཉིད་ཀྱིས་རང་བཞིན་མེད་པ་ལ་ངེས་པ་ཆེར་འགྲོ་བས་སྟོང་དང་རྟེན་འབྱུང་གཅིག་༧གྲོགས་གཅིག་འཁྱེར་ཤེས་པ་ཞིག་སོང་ཞེས་གསུངས། གཞན་དུ་ན་སྔ་རབས་པ་དག་དོན་དམ་དཔྱོད་བྱེད་ཀྱི་རིག་པས་དཔྱད་ནས་དགག་བྱ་མ་ལུས་པ་ཁེགས་པ་དང་། བཀག་པའི་ཤུལ་དུ་ལས་འབྲས་བྱ་བྱེད་སོགས་བསྙོན་མེད་དུ་འཇོག་ཤེས་པའི་གཉིས་ཚོགས་དེ་སུས་ཀྱང་མ་རྟོགས་པས་རྣམ་པར་འཁྱམས་སོ། །དེ་ལྟར་རྟོགས་ནས་ཉམས་སུ་བླངས་པའི་ཚེ་དང་། འཇོག་སྒོམ་ཁོ་ན་མ་ཡིན་པར་སྐབས་སུ་གང་བབས་ཀྱིས་སྤེལ་བ་དང་། ཁྱད་པར་ལས་དང་པོ་པའི་དུས་སུ་ངའོ་སྙམ་པའི་འཛིན་སྟང་དམ་སྲིང་པ་དེ་ཡུལ་དུ་བྱས་ནས་དེ་འགོགས་བྱེད་ཀྱི་རིག་པས་བཀག་པའི་གསལ་བའི་ངར་དང་མ་བྲལ་བ་ཅིས་ཀྱང་གལ་ཆེ་སྟེ། གཞན་དུ་ན་འབེན་མ་མཐོང་བའི་མདའ་བཞིན་དུ་དོན་མེད་པར་འགྱུར་བའི་ཕྱིར་རོ། །འདི་ལྟར་གྱི་ལྟ་སྒོམ་གྱི་གནད་རྣམ་པར་དག་པ་རྙེད་ཅིང་། བསོད་", "chinese_translation": "可以显现为彼和彼,并且可以合理地安立作用等。 像这样获得清净的见修要点,并且", "english_translation": "they can appear as this and that, and actions and effects can be validly established. Although inherent existence is refuted even in conventional truth, it is not necessary to relegate all actions and effects, such as karma and its results, to mere imputation. Instead, it is permissible to accept that they are established by valid cognition even within one's own system. Moreover, by gaining certainty about dependent arising, one gains even greater certainty about the absence of inherent existence. Therefore, emptiness and dependent arising can help each other and become close friends. Otherwise, the earlier scholars, having investigated with the wisdom that examines ultimate truth, refuted all that should be refuted, but no one understood the union of refuting and then undeniably establishing actions, effects, and so on. Therefore, they wandered astray. Having understood in this way, when practicing, not only calm abiding and insight, but also developing it according to the circumstances, and especially at the beginning, it is crucial to make the clinging to \"I\" the object and refute it with the wisdom that refutes it, without separating from the clarity of certainty. Otherwise, like an arrow without a target, it will become meaningless.

With immeasurable numbers of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as companions, although one can eliminate the gross obscurations of afflictions and knowledge, one cannot eliminate the subtle ones, so it takes a long time to attain Buddhahood. Therefore, one should enter the unsurpassed Vajrayana path, which can eliminate all obscurations of afflictions and knowledge in a single short lifetime in this degenerate age. Moreover, the individual who enters this path must be even sharper than the sharpest of the Mahayana Paramita Vehicle. When such a disciple obtains the pure view of emptiness as explained by the Prasangika Madhyamaka, through the profound empowerment of unsurpassed yoga, and with the preliminary stage of generation, relying on the wind-energy and bindu of the completion stage, such as tummo, the power of causing the winds to enter, abide, and dissolve in the central channel, transforms the mind into the nature of bliss. So, what is the emptiness that was previously realized? It is the union of the object of great bliss and the subject of the realization of emptiness, which is the unmistaken union of bliss and emptiness as accepted by all the tantras and accomplished masters. Therefore, without relying on the meaning explained by the great chariot Nagarjuna and the treatises clarified by glorious Chandrakirti, it is impossible to attain accomplishment even with unsurpassed yoga. Because its ultimate practice is the union of bliss and emptiness, and you have not explained how to obtain the pure view of emptiness, which is a component of the union of bliss and emptiness. Therefore, with a view that has not even reached the level of Chittamatra, one cannot combine the bliss of unsurpassed yoga with the emptiness of union. Because it cannot be combined, even if one spends years meditating on the generation and completion stages alone, it will become like a lifeless image, unable to leave the footprints of the Dharmakaya, and will ultimately be in vain. As shown here, if one obtains a pure view and is sustained by the means of great bliss, and especially on top of that, is able to obtain a Vajra body adorned with marks and signs in this life, it depends entirely on whether one knows the method of accomplishing the illusory body. However, the Kadampa school has not clearly explained the method of identifying the illusory body, while the Marpa school believes that one should visualize the body as a deity and merely recognize that this appearance is without inherent existence. But here, first, the basis for the accomplishment of the illusory body must be established, and then the yogi who abides in the solitude of the mind, through the inner cause of Vajra recitation, and the outer cause of mudras and
