A Brief Explanation of the Praise to the Venerable Manjushri, "Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities" A Brief Explanation of the Praise to the Venerable Manjushri, "Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities" A Brief Explanation of the Praise to the Venerable Manjushri, "Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities" is now present. Namo Guru Manjughoshaya. The meaning of the praise "Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities" is explained in five parts: the author, the title of the treatise, the translator's homage, the actual meaning of the text, and the explanation of the concluding section. First: Here, some scholars believe that it was composed by the teacher Vajra Weapon. Others believe that in ancient India, five hundred pandits discussed composing a praise to Manjushri. As they began, through the blessings of Manjushri, all the praises composed by the pandits became one. They believed it arose from the blessings of Manjushri, and the name of the praise was taken from the abbot's name, "Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities." In any case, the author is a trustworthy source. Second: The title of this treatise, in the sacred land of India, in the excellent language of the gods, Sanskrit, is: Shri Jñana Guna Phala Nama Suti. In Tibetan, it is: "The Praise Called Glorious Wisdom and Excellent Qualities." Third: Homage to the Bhagavan, the Glorious Protector Manjughosha. The translator made this homage at the beginning of the translation for a special purpose. Fourth, there are two parts: the actual praise and the benefits. First, there are three parts: praising the mind, speech, and body. First, there are two parts: praising from the perspective of wisdom and praising from the perspective of compassion. First: The youthful Manjushri, the father of all Buddhas, whose wisdom and intellect have completely destroyed the darkness of the afflictions, the root of attachment and so on, and the two obscurations of knowledge, the root of dualistic confusion. How is this so? Just as the sun is free from the obscurations of dust and clouds, so too is your wisdom utterly pure, without any obscuring or confusing impurities in the vision of all phenomena.

This is because the light of wisdom that engages with all objects of knowledge is extremely clear. Also, how does that wisdom see objects? It is because all the entities and the subtle details of the differences of all those phenomena included in omniscience, from form to omniscience, are seen directly and without obstruction, as they are. The reason why you hold the Prajnaparamita scripture in your heart, which completely shows the profound and vast path of the bodhisattvas, is also to represent that you possess such wisdom that sees all phenomena as they are and as many as they are, as mentioned above. Secondly, for those sentient beings who are separated from peace and are trapped in the prison of samsara from the peak of existence to the Avici hell, and within that, the darkness of ignorance that clings to self and what belongs to self completely envelops the three doors, and relying on that, all beings who are tormented by the three sufferings are possessed of extremely compassionate pity. For example, just as a mother who has only one child loves her child, Manjushri, you have the love to save all sentient beings tormented by suffering without any difference. Secondly, because you are drawn by the great compassion mentioned above, in order to place all beings on the supreme state that you have seen and attained, you have a single speech that clearly shows all the places of acceptance and rejection, and it also has the melodious sound with sixty branches. What is its function? It is there. For example, in the expanse of the sky, the dragon's own sound roars extremely loudly, and that sound awakens other beings from sleep. The melodious sound with the characteristics mentioned earlier makes the eighty-four thousand Dharma doors very well and extremely loudly heard in the ears of the beings to be tamed, thereby awakening all beings from the thick sleep of afflictions, and also untying the strong iron chains of contaminated actions that throw them into samsara, accomplish samsara, and bind samsara, and allows them to breathe into the state of liberation and omniscience.
