one. In short, in the Profound Secret Heart Essence, the way of introducing awareness by forceful means is said to be intended for those with sharp faculties and those who possess the lineage all at once. The way of explaining the oral transmission of the path and the fruit is to guide gradually. If one understands this way well, then the proliferation of contradictions will subside in the realm of reality. The yogi Virupa establishes the nature of mind as the union of clarity and emptiness, and the two, the consummated Tathagatagarbha, which speaks of other-emptiness, have the same name but different meanings. Why? Manjushri Gonpo Sapen said, "Therefore, since the essence of the Tathagata (Sanskrit Devanagari: तथागत, Sanskrit Romanization: tathāgata, Chinese literal meaning: Thus Gone) is free from elaboration, it is reasonable for sentient beings to have both Buddhahood and samsara." Like this, through many proofs, it is established that the Tathagatagarbha is free from elaboration, and is there a time when the other, the permanent and consummated, is desired to be the same? Therefore, the great omniscient one said, "The nature of clear light is like a crystal realm. From the transformation of the colors of habit, the realm itself, which appears in many states, is the basis of all samsara and nirvana." And in order to clarify that meaning, here, Maitreya Gonpo Nagarjuna said, "Clarity is continuous and uninterrupted, empty of the four extremes of elaboration, and the union is established on the uncreated." Thus, the two great chariots, the way their views converge into one, are extensively explained through scripture and reasoning. The symbol of that basis is also, the Dharmadhatu with defilements, suchness, the clear light Tathagatagarbha, and the pure nature of mind, etc., are indicated by many kinds of names. The Lankavatara Sutra, the Dense Array Sutra, the oral instructions of the Yogi, and the feet of glorious Chandrakirti, etc., also consider the word Alaya to refer to this. In the profound tantras, Manjushri, great wisdom, co-emergent, Vajra Vajrasattva glorious, Samantabhadra, etc., are said to be countless. Like this, the way of clearly explaining, one should analyze with meticulous intelligence. Apart from that, the essence itself, for the defiled mind, with awareness, the idea of merely blocking with truth, and the commitment to only truly established, etc., are said to fall into the extremes of addition and slander. Even if one wants to establish the pure way of awareness, here, for the Middle Way itself, temporarily, without refuting or establishing, one abides. The wisdom of the fruit Buddha is,

The Svātantrika school asserts that (all phenomena) are nonexistent, while the Shentong school claims they are permanent, stable, and unchanging. The ultimate meaning of the Prāsaṅgika school, because (phenomena) are beyond the reach of the mind and are the realm of the inconceivable, does not accept existence or nonexistence. When the sutras say there is no wisdom, it refers to the fact that it is not associated with the defiled realm of phenomena and its corresponding factors. The purpose is to counteract the clinging to permanence. When some sutras say there is wisdom, it refers to the wisdom that transcends thought and expression, pervading all of saṃsāra and nirvāṇa. The purpose is to eliminate the extreme of nihilism. In reality, it is the nature that transcends both extremes, the state of non-acceptance. Once its own nature is directly realized, the elaborations of permanence and annihilation dissolve into the dharmadhātu. If you wish to understand this meaning well, apart from dwelling single-pointedly in a secluded and delightful forest, the contradictions of speculation will never be resolved. Therefore, fortunate one, having drunk the essence of the rising sun of profound meaning, may your supreme lotus of wisdom blossom and be rich with the fruits of non-cultivation. Although you have asked endless questions with your extraordinary wisdom, due to the influence of ignorance and laziness, there is no opportunity to elaborate extensively. However, may this brief offering eliminate all faults, and may all sentient beings, through virtue, attain omniscience.
