This treatise known as the Mind-Only school is actually completely untrue. If you think it is true, then please carefully examine the excellent commentary *Destruction of Objections* and the many excellent self-commentaries that the Buddha Bhagavan himself has well spoken, and see whether they agree or disagree. It is also said that the noble Dignāga explained the *Perfection of Wisdom Sutra* as Mind-Only, but this is also not true. Because the scholars of the perfect age, including the noble master Asaṅga, explained it in accordance with the Buddha Bhagavan's self-commentary; while the scholars of the three-fold age, including master Siṃhabhadra, explained it in many ways that contradict and disagree with the Buddha's self-commentaries. It is said that Asaṅga explained Mind-Only in order to favor his younger brother Vasubandhu's view of Madhyamaka. But this also seems untrue, because the second omniscient master Vasubandhu has been proven to be a great Madhyamaka practitioner. The noble Asaṅga never explained the *Mother Sutra* as Mind-Only, but explained it as Madhyamaka. Master Dignāga also never explained the *Mother Sutra* as Mind-Only, but explained it as great Madhyamaka. If someone says that they explained it as Mind-Only, then please ask with pure scriptural authority and reasoning, and write it down. In the sutra where the Buddha Bhagavan necessarily explains the meaning of the scriptures, the Bodhisattva Don Dam Yang Dak Phak asked the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, at first, in Vārāṇasī, in the Deer Park at Ṛṣipatana, the Bhagavan thoroughly turned a wheel of Dharma that was wonderful and amazing, never before turned in the world by any god or human in accordance with the Dharma, by thoroughly teaching the four noble truths to those who had truly entered the Śrāvakayāna. That wheel of Dharma turned by the Bhagavan is unsurpassed, necessary, true in meaning, and a place of debate. The Bhagavan, starting from the non-existence of the essence of all dharmas, spoke of non-arising, non-cessation, primordially peaceful, and self-

Beginning with the very complete passing into peace by its own nature, for those who have correctly entered the Great Vehicle, the second wheel of Dharma, which is extremely wondrous and amazing, was turned by way of speaking of emptiness. That wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One was supreme, timely, and of provisional meaning, and was the place of words of dispute. The Blessed One began with the very non-existence of the entity of all dharmas, and beginning with the very non-arising, the very non-cessation, the very quiescence from the beginning, and the very complete passing into peace by its own nature, for those who have correctly entered all vehicles, the third wheel of Dharma, which is well distinguished and extremely wondrous and amazing, was turned. This wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One is unsurpassed, untimely, and of definitive meaning, and is not the place of words of dispute. Thus, it was spoken with many excellences and so forth. Teachers such as the spiritual friend of Dharma say: "The intermediate pronouncement is Madhyamaka and is of provisional meaning, and the final pronouncement is Cittamātra and is of definitive meaning." This is because whatever is not contradicted by reason is provisional meaning, and whatever is contradicted is definitive meaning, so it is confused. Those who make this refutation of the Blessed Buddha and take it as a reliable basis are even more confused than confused, because there is no one who can be superior to the Buddha, and because it is not said that the final wheel is Cittamātra, and because both the intermediate and the final are the same in teaching no self-nature, no arising, no cessation, quiescence from the beginning, and complete passing into peace by its own nature, and because it is not said that Madhyamaka is of provisional meaning and Cittamātra is of definitive meaning, but to say that it was said in that way is to speak a very serious reversal. The noble Vimalamitra also said: "Who could be more learned than the Victorious One? There is not even a little in this world. Completely, that which is the supreme reality is known by that all-knowing one, not by another. Therefore, one should not disturb even a little the way of Dharma established by the Sage himself. Because of destroying the way of the Sage, he also harms the true Dharma by acting in that way." And

Moreover, the venerable Nagarjuna also said, "For this meaning, who else is a more excellent witness than the Victorious One (Buddha)?" etc. Saying such things is harmful. All that is said in all the pure sutras and tantras must be distinguished as self-emptiness and other-emptiness. If this is not done, and it is said that everything is only self-empty, or that other-emptiness cannot understand emptiness, so only self-emptiness can understand emptiness, or that all that is said to be ultimately real, permanent, having a self, pure, and blissful is provisional meaning; all that is said to be non-existent, impermanent, selfless, impure, and suffering is definitive meaning, and if one believes this, as well as the nine or twelve perfect accomplishments, the ultimate Dharmakaya, the Svabhavikakaya, the self-nature luminosity, the self-nature co-emergent, the self-nature great bliss, the self-nature primordial, the self-nature nirvana, the self-nature spontaneously accomplished mandala, etc., and the self-nature lineages with many classifications and summaries, and the ultimate reality Tathagatagarbha with many qualities, etc., although these are considered to be Dharmata, but if Dharmata is considered to be self-empty, etc., all these countless wrong views and evil views, if the perfect and complete scriptural authority and reasoning are taken as evidence, will become clear. Although many people think that scriptural authority and reasoning with three characteristics, divided, mixed, and flawed, are the source of knowledge, in reality they cannot be a correct source of knowledge, so do not follow errors. Because I didn't have the courage, I raised my voice. Don't say I didn't raise my voice. This is the first chapter.
