First, the preliminary instructions are divided into common and uncommon. The common preliminaries include the five common preliminary practices of the Vehicle: contemplating the difficulty of finding leisure and opportunity, impermanence, the law of cause and effect, the suffering of samsara, and the benefits of liberation. Additionally, there are the common preliminary practices of Secret Mantra: refuge, bodhicitta, the practice and recitation of Vajrasattva, mandala offering, and guru yoga. These ten should be arranged separately, in accordance with the general and proper methods for taming one's mindstream. Alternatively, as stated in the Tantra 'Vast Expanse of Luminosity': 'Loving-kindness and compassion are the general path of Dharma, for the sake of entering the Great Vehicle.' And as stated in the 'Meaning Instructions After Death': 'Cultivate impermanence, compassion, and bodhicitta.' Here, the emphasis on cultivating impermanence, compassion, and bodhicitta is due to their primary importance, as explicitly stated in the text. First, contemplating impermanence, as stated in the Noble 'Samadhiraja Sutra': 'When this world realm is destroyed, and all the worlds become like space, just as before, so too afterward, know all dharmas to be like that.' Thus, the external, stable container world, including Mount Meru, the four continents, the surrounding mountains, and the underlying foundation, will also be burned by seven suns, washed away by water, and destroyed by wind, ultimately becoming empty space. Therefore, it is certain to be impermanent. Similarly, in the 'Collection of Specially Expressed Verses': 'A king endowed with seven precious things, and other minor kings and ministers, monks, brahmins, householders, etc., all beings are impermanent, like beings in a dream.' Thus, even when considering the internal, moving sentient beings, they are impermanent, unstable, and quickly decaying. Seeing and hearing of the deaths of countless enemies, friends, and neutral parties, one can be certain that one's own death is uncertain. Moreover, the teacher Hero says: 'Even the bodies of the Buddhas, adorned with marks and signs, even the vajra bodies are impermanent, what need is there to mention ordinary beings?' Thus, the teacher of beings, including gods, and their retinue" } ] ============================================================

Everything is impermanent. Omniscient Longchenpa said: Brahma and Indra, the brave thousand-eyed one, even the son without desire will be impermanent and go to the next life. As it is said, if we contemplate the impermanence of the lords of beings, who are noble and high in the three realms, then there is no doubt that they will surely die. In the Wish-Fulfilling Treasury, it says: Because of the changing seasons and ages, both externally and internally, it is certain that one will die impermanently, so abandon the clinging to permanence. Form is a particle, time is a moment, and it is as impermanent as lightning in the sky. As it is said, the changes of the four external seasons, the rise and fall of the four internal elements, the secret changes in body, speech, mind, and actions, no matter how you think about it, it is obvious that you do not know which will come first, tomorrow's affairs or the next life. There is no certainty when one will die, and there are many causes of death. There is no one who will not die from diseases, evil spirits, etc. The so-called impermanence of life and death will come suddenly. Houses that are built, wealth that is accumulated, close relatives and friends, etc., are of no help, and one must leave with karma as one's only master. Thinking that the only thing that is beneficial for death is the supreme Dharma, therefore, in the Extensive Play Sutra, it says: The three realms are impermanent like autumn clouds, this time of approaching and receiving will be destroyed and separated, the four seasons are impermanent, changing and without essence, aging and decaying are the nature of death, there is not a moment of stay, the life of a man flows like water falling from a cliff. Nagarjuna said: If a fire suddenly breaks out on your head or clothes, even if you give up what you are doing to stop it, you should strive to avoid rebirth. There is nothing more important than the supreme Dharma. Thinking about the meaning of these words and reciting them repeatedly, if you can recognize the activities of this life as a dream, and thereby let go of the affairs of this life, not procrastinate, not be lazy, until the thought arises that you should strive to achieve ultimate happiness now. Then, practice loving-kindness and compassion: The world, like the sky in the ten directions, is inconceivable, and all of it is filled with sentient beings of the six realms without any gaps. There is not one of all these beings who has not been one's mother. Cherish each of them with loving-kindness, like one's present mother, protect them with compassionate actions, and benefit them in various ways.
