It is like this, in the commentary of Ornament for Clear Realization, it says that it is not appropriate when the lama is eating, etc. Regarding this matter, Geshe Khu said, "Look, it is not appropriate when the lama is eating." It is said that if you request at an inappropriate time, your own affairs will not be accomplished, and the lama will not be happy either. A disciple went to request Dharma at a time when a certain master was not convenient. The master was busy doing other things and said, "Mari La Dza" (藏文, 梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音, Meaning in Chinese). The disciple thought it was a mudra, and thought that "Mari La Dza" was the essence, so he only recited this, and as a result, he obtained common accomplishments. Therefore, to practice through the path of the Great Vehicle Secret Mantra, faith is the most important. His situation turned out well. Generally speaking, if you ask when the lama is busy or unhappy, your own affairs will not be accomplished. It is said that Potowa once displeased the master (Atisha) by requesting the practice of Akshobhya Buddha, and later, when he died carrying wealth, he said, "I am sure this is because I insisted on asking the master for the practice of Akshobhya Buddha when he was unhappy." The practice of the Great Vehicle, whether it is Secret Mantra or Paramita, depends on blessings. To obtain blessings, it is necessary to make the lama happy. One must rely on the lama with respect. We meditate on Awa Ru, thinking in our hearts, "I have come from afar," or thinking, "My lineage is like this," this is terrible, and even if you teach the Dharma, you will not go on the right path. You must destroy the mountain of pride, just as the Blessed One Maitreya Bodhisattva said to the Holy Manjushri, in front of the virtuous friend, destroy all pride and great pride, and have a mind like a dog; for all the lowly tasks of the virtuous friend, you must do them, and have a mind like a scavenger; for the affairs of the virtuous friend, going back and forth without getting tired, have a mind like a boat. Geshe Great Yogi said that the statue of Atisha was made by the craftsmen of Vajrasana, and he also built the Eight Great Stupas, the statue of the deeds of transformation, and the statue of Tara saving from the Eight Fears. It is said that he also went to the Golden Seat in India three times. Geshe Dromtonpa determined all the inner and outer relationships between Atisha and Se Tsün (referring to Dromtonpa, Atisha's disciple), and that is how they did it.

By doing this, it is not that I think I can satisfy the minds of all these people. By doing this, I have never had even a moment's thought that these people would be happy and then give me the key points. When Geshe Stonpa was passing away, Ame, the old doctor, said, "If only I had a little fresh arura, otherwise I won't be able to live." At that time, there were only about sixty monks, and many people were pricked by thorns on the road to Nepal to find arura, and Geshe himself broke the thorns. If it is put in milk, it will not dry even if it is dry, and the color, smell, and effect will not disappear. If the Vajra Master says, "Even the letters should be halved," then it must be done as he said. In addition, King Moon said, "Sit on an extremely low seat, look with joyful eyes, and rely on the glory of taming to the utmost, like drinking the nectar of words." Just as he said, Dasa's son also took off his sweat-cloth and spread it on the stone slab, and King Moon sat on it, and he himself sat in a low place. It is said that the speaker sits on a high seat, which is said in the sacred Vinaya: "On the high seat decorated with the light of jewels, thinking that this is a thing with the nature of arising and ceasing, there is no fault in ascending the high seat to preach the Dharma, because it is an offering to the Sugata's Dharma." The Mahayana also says how to set up a high seat. At the time of the compilation of the scriptures, it was also said how to lay the seats. If the speaker sits in a low place and the listener sits in a high place, just like the story of King Sharava's concubine and the maid named Sgur Chu, merit will never arise in the continuum. To look with joyful eyes means that in India, (people) would look at the teacher's brow and say "Para Para," meaning "Well said, well said." In fact, this is an immediate way of expressing one's approval. We also need to say "Well said" after giving a Dharma talk. Atisha's disciple and friend Panchung, when he said something lower than his own sect, would raise his red hair and make a rustling sound, which was a sign of great joy. Rely on the glory of taming to the utmost.

It is said that instead of practicing Avaru, one should completely rely on that master, just like the monk of Odantapuri. If drinking the nectar of words is understood as treating disease with disease, that is also acceptable. First, abandoning all the suffering in samsara, in order to attain Nirvana, one must study the three trainings of the path. If it is understood that extensive learning is necessary, then one can truly drink the nectar of words. After that, let the disciple abandon obstacles, and let him practice renunciation. In this way, one will not fall into the lower realms and samsara, as well as the Hinayana, but will attain the good realms, liberation, and omniscient wisdom, until one benefits sentient beings through activities. Regarding this, Master Stodlungpa also said, "Relying on a virtuous spiritual friend is the root of Dharma." Third, how to rely on the virtuous spiritual friend, the root of Dharma.
