A Song of Self-Realization A Song of Self-Realization Namo Guruye. Sanskrit Romanization: Namo guru ye, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the guru) Supreme guide on the path of benefit, averting all harm, Placing us in the state of constant bliss, Even a moment's remembrance increases experience and realization, I prostrate to the supreme father lama. Now consider, solitary yogi, From the very beginning until now, Wandering in the cities of the three realms of samsara, If there is no permanent dwelling in any place, Isn't it reasonable to abandon attachment to one's homeland? But attachment to one's homeland must be abandoned at death, Now is the time to rely on an unchanging, permanent homeland, To abide in the expanse of primordial purity. One who frequents solitary retreats, yet is attached and clinging, Now consider, solitary yogi, Having abandoned the solitary retreat of the Dharmakaya, Yet built many monasteries of the six realms of karma, If there is no permanent dwelling of bliss there, Isn't it reasonable to abandon the thought of holding monasteries? But the foundation of monasteries is also conditioned, and will perish, One should rely on the supreme, indestructible monastery, And abide in the solitary retreat of intrinsic nature. One who relies on solitude, yet has a mind of attachment, Now consider, solitary yogi, From the ground of mind ceasing, until now, Many actions of mistaken karma have been done, If liberation has not arisen from doing, Isn't it reasonable to abandon the thought of doing? But actions done are endless and meaningless, An action that is effortlessly accomplished, One should rest in a state of non-doing. One who is diligent and restless, with a vast mind, Now consider, solitary yogi, Having abandoned the spontaneously accomplished jewel, Yet sought many possessions of samsara, If obtaining them does not provide lasting sustenance, Isn't it reasonable to abandon seeking wealth and postpone practice? But even if wealth is obtained, without contentment, the future is empty, If one knows contentment, one is enriched by the wealth of contentment, One should meditate on the spontaneous accomplishment of both mind and meaning. One who accumulates wealth and is stingy, Now consider, solitary yogi, From teaching the inexpressible meaning until now, Whatever words spoken are all meaningless, But those are all mistaken branches, without benefit, If words with meaning are not accomplished, Isn't it reasonable to abandon giving Dharma talks? But even if one speaks, it is without benefit, only tiring oneself, One should meditate on the inexpressible meaning, you who are talkative. Now consider, solitary yogi, Having gone forth from the unfailing awareness of meaning, Yet greedily consumes whatever food and drink, But even if one consumes, there is no time of satisfaction, When food is exhausted

A sea of nectar. A pure mind is suitable for meditating on samadhi. Knowing enough food is a delicious storehouse. Now think about it, detached yogi. Even if the pure Dharma is separated from wisdom, The body cherishes and protects itself with beautiful clothes and ornaments. Even if wisdom is content and needs decoration, If there is no warm and soft cushion, Isn't it appropriate to ignite the body's inner fire? Even good ornaments and clothes wear out and become old. A pure mind is adorned with the clothes of morality. The key is to be adorned with pure vows. Let go of attachment, you who have desires. Now think about it, detached yogi. After recognizing the wisdom of self-nature, The minds of sentient beings in samsara are impartial, Although there are many karmic debts, connections, friends, and companions, None of them go together at the same time. Isn't it appropriate to practice solitary retreat? Although there are many family relationships, they will separate. With the Dharma, samsara and nirvana are indistinguishable, It is good to practice the only key point. Alone, enduring, and broad-minded. Now think again, yogi. No matter what happens, is it uncomfortable? Practicing solitary retreat liberates samsara and nirvana. All self-nature manifests, the bliss of non-duality. By abandoning attachment to karma, desire ceases. The treasure of the mind opens, the bliss of fearlessness. By abandoning the actions of karma, the grasped and the grasper are pacified. Wisdom and Dharma nature are clear, the bliss of non-attachment. By abandoning the cherishing of the body, there is no disease or demons. The mind is liberated from the bondage of attachment, gaining bliss. If there are resources, they become the conditions for practice. The Dharma and virtuous actions increase and expand, gaining bliss. If there are no resources, then be content with this and rely on caution. The key is to be content and rich with wealth, gaining bliss. The key is that the self-mind is complete in itself, The key is to cut off doubts and hesitation, gaining bliss. The key is to abide in reality as it is, isn't it? Wisdom does not need to be deliberately cultivated, gaining bliss. No matter what appears in the realm of the six senses, It manifests as the play of self-nature, gaining bliss. No matter what good or bad circumstances arise, Wisdom does not need to seek remedies, gaining bliss. No matter what kind of play of thoughts arises, All are liberated in the realm of self-awareness, gaining bliss. In the peaceful abiding of the mind in bliss, clarity, and non-thought, Wisdom and ignorance are purified in their own nature, gaining bliss. In the uncreated, spontaneously arising wisdom, The mind transcends wisdom, and insight arises, gaining bliss. In the Dharma of the union of calm abiding and insight, Wisdom abides in its natural state, gaining bliss. From now on, in diligent practice, Do not desire other meanings
