If it is said that there is not, then it has gone secretly alone, and then it is distinguished and very well, very eagerly wishes for it, and also sees it as a merit. In this way, there is no shame for it. How is it that there is no scruple? That is, with that cause, that condition, that basis, arguing, refuting, and confronting with others such as parents or lamas, and not being ashamed of it, and also seeing it as a merit. In this way, there is no scruple. With that cause, that condition, that basis, one will be born in the lower realms, and this is called great desire. What is great hatred? With what kind of hatred does one hate, becoming fierce, violent, and cruel, thereby committing any of the five inexpiable sins, or abandoning the true Dharma, no matter what one does, even if the five inexpiable sins are added together, one cannot approach its number. Whether it is a part, a count, a metaphor, or a cause, one cannot approach it, and one acts like this. With that cause, that condition, that basis, after the body is destroyed, one will be born in the great hells. If even by chance one is born as a human being a hundred times, one will become dark, red-eyed, fierce, and full of harmful thoughts. With that cause, that condition, that basis, one will again be born in the hells, and this is called great hatred. What is great ignorance? For those things mentioned before, even if they are faults, one is happy, does not feel sad, does not utter lamentations, and has no regrets, and this is called great ignorance. Thus it is said. The yogi therefore delights in abandoning it, and sees abandoning as a benefit. Touching the joy of solitude and the small pleasure, constantly with the mind of faith, in order to be as far away as possible from dullness, sleep, and excitement, one is very happy, and this is called gathering joy. By this, one abandons the medium aspect of afflictions. What is that? From that, what is medium desire? If one relies on desires, one relies on them until the matter is completed, and after the matter is completed, one obtains a mind free from desire, obtains regret, and obtains uneasiness in the heart, and this is called medium desire.

What is medium hatred? It is when, due to hatred, one commits sinful and unwholesome deeds, quickly, rapidly, and immediately regrets them, and also relies on their antidotes. This is what is called medium hatred. What is medium ignorance? It is when, even after committing unwholesome deeds, one immediately regrets them, and associates with those whose conduct is similar to Brahma, without concealing anything, and without regarding it as a virtue. This is what is called medium ignorance. Thus, this excellent explanation is for the purpose of connecting it with the side of virtue, because due to reliance, the afflictions of acting in desire will not arise universally. In order to understand whether it has been abandoned or not, one should attend to the aspect of suffering that is in accordance with that arising, and thereby separately know, which is reflective attention. By this, arrogance of learning will not arise, and one will settle the mind on this. By this, after reflecting in this way, and cultivating the antidote, in order to be separated from all the afflictions of acting in desire, in the manner of how long that time is, attending to the ultimate antidote that is combined with the first dhyana is the limit of combination. By this, the subtle aspects of afflictions are completely abandoned. Among these, what is subtle desire? It is when, although the desired objects are relied upon, one is satisfied with mere touching and smearing, or mere bodily contact, or mere spoken words, that is called subtle desire. In short, it is the mind that is attached to all the necessities of life, that is called desire. What is subtle hatred? It is when, due to hatred, mere words, or unpleasant sounds, or abusive language, and so on, unwholesome deeds, even if they arise, in that very moment, or that very instant, or that very short time, one relies on the antidote, that is called subtle hatred. What is subtle ignorance? It is when, regarding faults that are not of their own nature, but are prescribed faults, when practicing in all the trainings, one transgresses more than two or three times, that is called subtle ignorance. Thus it was said. The signs are: the body trembles, one thinks the body is being dragged by rough cloth, the whole body is being sprinkled with milk, and warmth arises in the body.

And, like a butter lamp arising from the heart, like the light of the sun's rays arising from between the eyebrows, and five kinds of rays arising from the crown of the head, etc., it is said. The result is also the same, called the first dhyana. By faith, may this be gathered, by the merits, may all beings completely abandon existence, rely on the bliss of dhyana, and always be devoted to the benefit of others! A Summary of Entering Dhyana is completed. A Summary of Entering Dhyana.
