Abridged Explanation on Entering Samadhi. Abridged Explanation on Entering Samadhi. Having fully realized the real and unreal, even having attained the supreme body like the sky, by the power of compassion, for as long as it lasts, for the six realms of sentient beings in darkness, kindling the lamp of Dharma. I respectfully prostrate to him. Because of the different karmas, perhaps some people are interested in this. Therefore, I will try to briefly explain the method of entering Samadhi. In summary: Accumulations, object of focus, faults, what to abandon, sequence, examination, fruit. Among them, there are two kinds of accumulations: external and internal. The external, in short, is a pleasant place. The internal, in short, also has two: non-attachment and pure morality. It is also said in the sutras: "Without attachment to the world, it is easy to achieve enlightenment." It is also said: "With the mind of guarding morality, one performs the act of abiding." So, what is the object of focus? Here it refers to non-arising. That is, it is said in the sutras: "All these dharmas depend on the mind, arise from the mind, and the mind is the leader. If the mind is extremely subdued, if the mind is extremely gentle, and extremely understood, then all these dharmas will also be extremely subdued, extremely gentle, and extremely understood. Therefore, with such a view, with that cause, that condition, that basis, one strives to pacify the mind, subdues the mind with the mind, pacifies the mind with the mind, and sharpens the mind well with the mind. Thus, diligently striving for peace, the mind will become one-pointed, and after becoming one-pointed, one can abide in equanimity. After the mind abides in equanimity, joy arises from solitude, away from desires, away from sinful and unwholesome dharmas, together with conceptualization and investigation, joy and happiness arise from solitude, one fully accomplishes the first dhyana and abides." and so on. Therefore, the mind is of the nature of momentary arising and ceasing, and if observed with reason, there is no abiding. The past and the future, because they have already ceased and have not yet arisen, are not established. Then, in the present, the part of arising, the part of abiding, and the part of ceasing cannot become one. If its nature cannot become one, then the many are also not established.

Therefore, the mind is free from one and many, ungraspable, unpointable, and not a form. Because a moment has a beginning and an end, the world does not abide in a moment. Thus it is said. Therefore, one should only become accustomed to realizing that the mind has not arisen. There are five faults, and in order to purify these faults, it is taught to cultivate eight types of application. In short, if one does not lose mindfulness, the antidote to forgetting the object of focus, then one abides in awareness. At that time, without forcing, one should cultivate and abide in a way that does not harm the body and mind. What should be abandoned are craving for desire and sinful, unwholesome dharmas. That is to say, as it is said, desire is the desire of affliction and the desire of things, it is being separate from that which corresponds to it, and separate from the object of focus. What are sinful, unwholesome dharmas? They are the faults of body, speech, and mind that arise from the cause of affliction, realizing to cut off, therefore cutting off, as well as stabbing with weapons, fighting, arguing, debating, deceptive speech, harming, lying, and so on, being separate from these. The order is taught in seven ways, and for this, by fully knowing the characteristics, thereby fully knowing what should be abandoned and what should be attained, one settles the mind for the sake of abandoning and attaining. This should be understood as hearing, thinking, and mixing. After that, transcending hearing and thinking, in the manner of cultivating as one, with the reason of the nature of peace, cultivate calm abiding and insight that focus on signs, and how does one fully exert oneself? One should believe that the coarse is the nature of peace, this is called believing application. Because of being accustomed to this, the application that initially only has the path of abandoning, this is called the application of extreme remoteness. By this, all great afflictions are completely abandoned. What are these? In the Sutra of the Lamp of Wisdom, it says: What is great greed? It is that which pervades the entire body, completely grasping and abiding in the mind, and by which one is immersed in it, unable to attain a mind free from greed, being immersed in it, all shame and hesitation completely disappear, how can all shame and hesitation
