Titled "Showing the Distinctions of Suffering to Lho Zamo Tsangyang." Titled "Showing the Distinctions of Suffering to Lho Zamo Tsangyang." "Showing the Distinctions of Suffering to Lho Zamo Tsangyang" is complete. A disciple named Lhoza Tsangyang offered flowers, presented midday wine, and respectfully prostrated, then requested: "Venerable Lhachik, what exactly is the nature of samsaric suffering? Please bestow your teachings." Thereupon, the master slightly inclined his head, contemplated for a moment, and spoke these verses: From beginningless time, from countless ages, due to attachment to the body of one's own deluded mind, having passed through many places of birth, experiencing much birth and death, there is no room for endurance in this suffering of samsara. The unbearable suffering of hell beings, hungry ghosts, and animals, the suffering of the three and eight states, is a mire. We all dwell in this mire. A rational person, with wisdom, from the Buddha's words and treatises, earnestly teaches these: when born in the eight states of no leisure, there is no freedom to hear. Having obtained a human body with leisure, please listen attentively. With the ocean of merit accumulated over eons, one obtains the extremely rare human body with leisure. It is rare to be born in the southern continent of Jambudvipa. One should study the Dharma of Shakyamuni Buddha's teachings. This aggregate of body, is separate from mind and giving and receiving. Whether creating sins or doing good, whatever is said, whatever is bestowed, this physical body composed of the upper and lower parts, know that it is a great root of suffering. Therefore, attachment to form, attachment of consciousness to the darkness of ignorance, with the lamp of wisdom blazing like fire, one will be liberated from the depths of the darkness of ignorance. The great powers of desire, hatred, and ignorance, dwelling in filth, experience various sufferings. The mother's intense and gentle, cold and hot, satiation and hunger, the suffering of change, needless to mention the great and small. At the time of birth, it feels like pulling out eyelashes. Losing breath and fainting, one appears at the gate of the lower realms. After being born, it feels like being abandoned in a thorn bush. When picked up, it feels like a small bird being carried away by a hawk. Each pore feels like being pierced by an arrow of cold wind. Experiencing various sufferings. The suffering of birth has no room for endurance. This aggregate of body is entirely of aging.

Aging. No hair on the head, no teeth in the mouth. Eyes cannot see, ears cannot hear, Always like a patient, lying in bed. Unable to rise, walking hunched or crawling. Wanting food and drink, everyone calls and begs. Weakened by old age, this body of form, Seeing the shadow in the mirror, fears like a ghost. Has not harmed, does not harm, will not change to harm. All the neighboring children are very happy. This suffering of old age, there is no way to endure it. On this body, aging completely descends. No matter what, there is no way to endure it, Suspecting death, suffering unbearably, Burning the flesh with fire, performing bloodletting and piercing. The nature of medicine, difficult to swallow, Suspecting death, hoping for benefit, involuntarily swallowing. Even if deceived by fools, one does not awaken, Disease spreads, the support of the mind, all gather in the heart, The suffering of illness, withholding and cutting off, there is no way to endure it. On this body, death completely descends. Like a mountain collapsing from all four directions, There is no begging for it, no offering to it. The initial disease of death, there is no way to endure it. Words become incoherent, eyes also squint, Hope and fear, wailing and lamenting, pounding the chest, Constantly grieving, uttering many cries of sorrow. Even if grasping and clinging, there is no benefit. The executioner, the Lord of Death, the ten-hearted slayer of life, In the midst of suffering, one cannot bear to die, There is not a single being who can escape from death. Searching for what is not there, the suffering that cannot be found, Leaving home and country, running in all directions for relatives. Deceiving and enticing with trickery, seeking desires, Enduring the fatigue of the road, the suffering of hunger and thirst, The flesh and bones become as fine as dust, enduring the torment of afflictions, Longing in the heart, wondering when one can return home. If one can find what is sought and return home, Then wanting to seek something even better, one again embarks on the path of searching. Having found what was sought, one meets enemies and is stripped bare in all directions. One's self Though not killed, is beaten and driven away, which is still fortunate. Returning home and meeting wife and children, one still wears a dark face. Waiting for thieves and robbers is even greater suffering. Merchants cheat, altering weights and measures to deceive, Taking what is not given, seizing and plundering, acting stealthily, Using power to rob, devoid of shame, how pitiful!
