Abridged Exposition of Different Schools from the Wheel of Reading Different Canons in Order, called 'The Taming Deity'. Abridged Exposition of Different Schools from the Wheel of Reading Different Canons in Order. The Taming Deity. In Sanskrit: Samaya-bhedopara-vacana-cakra-sena-kaya-bhedopari-desanam-nama-samgraha. In Tibetan: Abridged Exposition of Different Schools from the Wheel of Reading Different Canons in Order. Homage to the Three Jewels! Those residing in the East and West, and in the snowy mountains, The school that speaks of the supramundane, And the school that speaks of imputation, The fivefold Mahasangha community, The Sarvastivadins and the Kashyapiyas, The Mahisasakas and the Dharmaguptakas, The Bahusrutiyas, the Gokulikas, And the school that speaks of distinction, These are the Sarvastivadins. The Jetavana residence, the Abhayagiri residence, The Mahavihara residence, the Sthaviras, The Dharmottariyas and the Bhadrayaniyas, And the Vatsiputriyas and other schools, Are the three types revered by all. Due to regional meanings and differences in teachers, Eighteen different types are spoken of. Among the eighteen schools, the Mahasangha community, which is superior, among the five schools of the Mahasangha, the view of the school that speaks of the supramundane has categories that differ from others, therefore it is explained first, and the others will be explained later for ease, so it is explained first. Among them, the school that speaks of the supramundane says this: The Buddha is supramundane, real, his body and life are infinite, he is in equanimity, he knows everything in an instant, and he always possesses the wisdom of cessation and non-arising. The turning of the wheel of Dharma is verbal. Bodhisattvas do not generate desire and so on, and do not arise from womb-birth and so on. Truth is seen simultaneously. Even the mind of the eye and so on becomes free from desire. Even in the form and formless realms, there is consciousness of the eye and so on. The senses do not apprehend objects. Equanimity is also verbal. The mind also has color, it is self-aware. Arhats also have doubt and ignorance, which need to be pointed out, fruits need to be told by others, and suffering is spoken of.

Speaking words of suffering will cause the path to arise. There is also destruction. The eighth also remains for a long time. One will also fall away from the rituals of the Dharma. There is no falling away from those who have entered the stream and the Arhats. The very first is to do other than the five heinous crimes. Worldlings do not have the power of right view. There is no making or amending what has not been spoken. There is no straightforward meaning. The formless is the four formless realms, the three unconditioned realms, and the nine that belong to the path and the principle of dependent origination. Many Buddhas appearing simultaneously is possible. Two minds arising simultaneously, afflictions and the path arising simultaneously, actions and the fruits of actions arising simultaneously, seeds and sprouts arising simultaneously is possible. The body is pervaded by the mind. The mind is luminous. Subtlety is non-existent. Universal entanglement is equally possessed. Destruction and non-arising, and the existence of the intermediate state do not exist. Those who have entered the stream are those who have attained meditative concentration. The sixth is neither knowable nor discernible, so say the schools that speak of transcendence of the world. The difference of the others from this is that the capable one is the lama by way of imputation, so they say. The schools that speak of imputation say that there is no power of the person to act, and no untimely death. The path is attained through merit. The path is to be cultivated. The path will not be destroyed, so they say. The Eastern Mountain school and the schools dwelling on the Western Mountain say that Bodhisattvas are not completely liberated from the lower realms. Offering to stupas is not the supreme fruit, so they say. The schools of the Snowy Mountains say that outsiders do not have the five superknowledges. The gods do not cultivate the path, so they say. Among the seven schools of the noble Sarvāstivāda, the schools that say that all bases exist say that the three times and name and form encompass all times. The sixth and the non-associated, and the unconditioned are neither knowable nor discernible.
