Cultivating the Bodhicitta. Cultivating the Bodhicitta. In Sanskrit: Bodhicitta Bhāvana. In Tibetan: Cultivating the Bodhicitta. I prostrate to the Buddha! The explanation of the aspects of Bodhicitta will be explained, as the Bhagavan said: All dharmas are accomplished by the mind. Therefore, first one should examine what the nature of the mind is. Devoid of all things, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, having abandoned the grasper and the grasped, the selflessness of phenomena, equanimity, one's own mind is originally unborn, it is the nature of emptiness. What is the meaning of these words that were spoken? The word "all things" refers to self and so on. It is said thus: self, sentient being, life, nurture, person, individual, born of power, son of power, doer, feeler, and so on. That is not the nature of the mind, why? Because those themselves do not have the characteristics of the actions of self and so on. Thus, for the time being, self and so on do not exist as things, what need is there to say that it is the nature of the mind? Therefore, devoid of all things, aggregates, elements, and sense bases, it will become the non-nature of the mind. Aggregates, elements, and sense bases, having abandoned the grasper and the grasped. Thus, if the aggregates and so on themselves are not truly existent, what need is there to say that it is the nature of the mind? The aggregates are not self-existent, how? For the time being, form and so on are not the nature of the aggregates. The aggregate of form is, for the time being, the nature of the great elements and what is made from the great elements. The great elements are the elements of earth, water, fire, and wind. What is made from the great elements are form, sound, smell, taste, and tactile objects. These great elements such as earth and what is made from the great elements, each or their individual things are not found. Where there is one, there is also another, therefore it is only form. Monks, the aggregate of form is empty of the aggregate of form, as the Bhagavan said, like there is no shadow without a tree. Thus.

Therefore, the form aggregate is completely unestablished. Similarly, the feeling aggregate is also completely unestablished. Why? Because there are three kinds of feelings: pleasure, pain, and neither pleasure nor pain. These are interdependent, because happiness is established in dependence on suffering. Whatever is merely the nature of a dharma is also not found, like the son of a barren woman, which is non-existent in reality. It is experienced like long and short. Furthermore, there are two kinds of feelings: bodily and mental. Bodily feeling is temporarily not found because it is included in the form aggregate. Therefore, since there is no body, bodily feeling is not established. If the Blessed One said that the mind is also without an object, cannot be pointed out, has no location, cannot be examined, cannot be seen, has no appearance, and has no discrimination, then what kind of feeling does it have? Therefore, since there is no mind, feeling arising from the mind is not established. Monks, the feeling aggregate is empty of the feeling aggregate, because the Blessed One said so, therefore the feeling aggregate is also completely unestablished. The perception aggregate is merely a name, therefore it is non-existent. Perception is the nature of grasping at signs. If there is no object there, then what is grasped at as a sign? Therefore, if there is no cause, there is also no effect. And, monks, the perception aggregate is empty of the perception aggregate, because the Blessed One said so, therefore the perception aggregate is also completely unestablished. The formation aggregate is also similarly without essence, why is it without essence? Because it is merely an aggregation. These mental factors such as feeling, perception, mind, intention, contact, intelligence, memory, attention, and faith, and non-associated formations such as birth are also shown to be the formation aggregate. These mental phenomena do not arise one by one or separately, because they are the characteristic of the activity of formations, therefore they are non-existent. If there is no agent, there is also no action. Monks, the formation aggregate is empty of the formation aggregate, because the Blessed One said so, therefore the formation aggregate is also
