Desire for duality arises from a single appearance. Because the object of duality appears, and because of the mere illusion of a single object. The nature of what is called "other-powered" (paratantra) is, it is said, the essence of two and one. By what is there the state of non-duality? By the object of duality being non-existent. By that, the nature of the perfectly established (pariniṣpanna) is, it is said, the essence of two and one. The completely imputed (parikalpita) and the other-powered, should be known as the characteristics of affliction. The characteristic of being completely purified is, it is said, being perfectly established. Because there is no nature of duality, and because of the nature of its non-existence. The nature of the perfectly established is, from the completely imputed, its non-different characteristic should be known. Because of the nature of non-duality, and because duality is the nature of non-existence. From the perfectly established, even the completely imputed, is said to be a characteristic that is not different. Because how it appears is non-existent, and likewise because of the nature of non-existence. From the nature of the perfectly established, other-powered, it is a characteristic that is not different. Because of the nature of non-duality, and because the way it appears is not real. From the perfectly established, even the other-powered, its non-different characteristic should be known. Because names are emphasized, and because their entry is emphasized. The nature of the gradual distinction is spoken for the sake of learning. Names and expressions are the completely imputed, the essence of the name-maker is other. The nature of what completely cuts off names, is not not wanting the other. Those who previously have the nature of non-duality, the other-powered will fully enter. After that, the non-dual in it, enters into mere imputation. After that, the non-dual object, enters into the perfectly established there. Likewise, that, that, likewise, it is said to be non-existent and existent. All three of these natures, have the characteristic of being non-dual and inexpressible. Because it is non-existent, likewise because it is existent, and because of the nature of its non-existence. Because of the distinction between understanding and not understanding, conceptual thought, and the distinction of apprehending manifest realization. Each of the three natures individually, is said to be distinguished by four aspects. Name, hearing, confusion, and the distinction of power and suchness. The inexpressible, non-dual, un-afflicted, is for the distinction of one and many. By the power of the mantra made by illusion, just as the essence of an elephant appears. There is only an appearance there, the elephant's

In all aspects, there is nothing. Like an elephant imagined, its appearance is dependent on others. Where there is no elephant, that is what is accepted as the perfectly established. From the root mind, what appears as the imagined, whether it exists or not? Both are utterly nonexistent; there, only the appearance exists. The root consciousness is like a mantra; thus, suchness should be regarded as like wood. Conceptualization is like the appearance of an elephant; it should be accepted as two, like an elephant. When those two are realized, the three characteristics are simultaneously, it is accepted that they are fully understood, abandoned, and attained in due order. Here, complete knowledge is non-apprehension, and abandonment is considered non-appearance. Objects are signs, and attainment is also the act of manifestation. Because neither is apprehended, it will become a conceptualization of the appearance of both. Because of the conceptualization of the perfectly established, it will be realized that both are nonexistent. The elephant is non-apprehensible, and the conceptualization of its appearance, the object on wood, etc., is like an illusion at the same time. Because the antidote wisdom transforms, and because wisdom sees selflessness, because it follows the three wisdoms, liberation is attained without effort. By focusing on mind-only, the meaning of what is to be known is non-apprehension. Because the meaning of what is to be known is non-apprehensible, the mind will turn into non-apprehensibility. Because neither is apprehended, it is the very object of the nature of reality. By focusing on the nature of reality, one will focus on the very nature of qualities. If the very nature of qualities is attained, in order to accomplish the meaning of oneself and others, the enlightenment that is the nature of the three bodies is attained by possessing unsurpassed wisdom. Thus it is said. The Treatise on Entering the Three Natures, composed by the great scholar, the noble Nagarjuna, is completed. Translated by the Kashmiri Pandit Bhikshu Chandrakirti. The practice of entering the three natures. Noble Nagarjuna.
