Moreover, if one does not perfect the six perfections, one should know what faults one will incur. To generate such mindfulness, the benefits to be gained in this life and future lives are what is being taught. Indra entreated: "Bhagavan, this Prajnaparamita is so wonderful in that it causes Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas to be tamed and abides for the sake of not generating pride." This is because Indra realized the benefits that Bodhisattvas who practice this Prajnaparamita can gain in this life and future lives, and even if they gain such merits, they will not become arrogant due to those merits. For the sake of elaborating on not generating pride, this topic was raised. "Bhagavan, this Prajnaparamita is so wonderful in that it causes Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas to be tamed and abides for the sake of not generating pride." The Bhagavan said: "Kauśika, how does this Prajnaparamita cause Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas to be tamed and abide for the sake of being without pride?" This question was posed to have Indra himself explain it. Indra entreated: "Bhagavan, here, when a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices the worldly perfection of generosity, and so on, Bhagavan, the Bodhisattva-Mahasattva practices worldly dharmas in such a way that they become arrogant due to attachment to self-importance. For this, the Prajnaparamita abides for the sake of completely taming and not generating pride." Up to this point, practicing the six perfections and all other dharmas up to the attainment of all-knowing wisdom, if the three spheres are not completely pure, then one is not completely tamed and is arrogant. Regarding this, if one understands the profound meaning of the Prajnaparamita, one can practice in a way that the three spheres are completely pure, thereby being completely tamed and not generating pride. This is what is being taught. Bhagavan, here, a Bodhisattva

From what is called "When a Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices the transcendent perfection of giving that is beyond the world," up to the point where, in order to cultivate the knowledge of all aspects, and also to intensely cultivate the Prajnaparamita, there is no object of focus. O Blessed One, thus the Prajnaparamita abides closely in order to completely subdue the Bodhisattva Mahasattva and to be without pride. Until here, the antidote to the practice of worldly perfections, etc., which have characteristics and in which the three spheres are not completely pure, is the practice of the six perfections, etc., in which the three spheres are completely pure. It is taught that the practice with characteristics itself subdues and makes one without pride. The eighteenth chapter of the extensive commentary on the Hundred Thousand Verses on the Perfection of Wisdom is complete. Eighteenth Chapter: The Chapter on Completely Taking Up Qualities.
