The Dharma of the Pratyekabuddha is also unborn. The Bodhisattva is also unborn. The Dharma of the Bodhisattva is also unborn. The Buddha is also unborn. The Dharma of the Buddha is also unborn. The five destinies of beings would also not be different. The Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas would also have already attained the five Bodhis. O venerable Subhuti, if all Dharmas are not unborn, why should the stream-enterer cultivate the path in order to abandon the three fetters? Why should the once-returner cultivate the path in order to thin out desire, hatred, and delusion? Why should the non-returner cultivate the path in order to abandon the five fetters corresponding to the lower part? Why should the Arhat cultivate the path in order to abandon all the fetters corresponding to the upper part? The solitary

Having entered the vehicle of the Buddha, one should meditate on the path of the meaning of self-enlightenment. Why do Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas now experience suffering and practice austerities for the sake of sentient beings? Why did the Tathagata attain unsurpassed, perfect and complete enlightenment? Why did the Tathagata turn the wheel of Dharma? Having spoken thus, the venerable Subhuti said to the venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, I do not wish to attain or realize the unoriginated Dharma. I do not wish to enter the stream of the unoriginated. I do not wish for the fruit of entering the stream. I do not wish to become a once-returner of the unoriginated. I do not wish for the fruit of once-returning. I do not wish to become a non-returner of the unoriginated. I do not wish for the fruit of non-returning. I do not wish to become an Arhat of the unoriginated. I do not wish for the fruit of Arhatship. I do not wish to become a Pratyekabuddha of the unoriginated. I do not wish to become a Pratyekabuddha itself. Venerable Shariputra, I do not wish to practice the austerities practiced by Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas. Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas also do not practice with the concept of austerity. Why is that? Venerable Shariputra, because by abiding in the concept of suffering, one cannot benefit immeasurable, countless, and limitless sentient beings. Venerable Shariputra, however, by generating the concept of mother towards all sentient beings, generating the concept of sister, generating the concept of oneself, and generating the concept of son, one can benefit immeasurable, countless, and limitless sentient beings, and that is also in a non-attached manner. Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas generate the mind in this way. Just as one says "I, I," but that is non-existent and invisible in all places, all ways, and all manners, similarly, one also generates concepts towards external and internal dharmas, and although one generates concepts in this way, one does not generate the concept of austerity. Why is that? Because in this way, he does not accept any dharma.

Because there is no object of focus. Venerable Shariputra, I do not desire the Tathagata for the unarisen, nor do I desire the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, nor do I desire to turn the wheel of Dharma, nor do I desire the unarisen attained by the unarisen Dharma. Said: Venerable Subhuti, is the arisen attained by the unarisen Dharma, or is the unarisen attained by the arisen Dharma? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, I do not desire the unarisen attained by the arisen Dharma, nor do I desire the arisen attained by the unarisen Dharma. Said: Venerable Subhuti, then is there no attainment and no direct realization? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, there is attainment and there is direct realization, but not both. Venerable Shariputra, attainment or direct realization is established by worldly terms. Stream-enterer, once-returner, non-returner, Arhat, Pratyekabuddha, Bodhisattva, Buddha are also established by worldly terms, but in the ultimate sense there is no attainment or direct realization, no stream-enterer, no once-returner, no non-returner, no Arhat, no Pratyekabuddha, no Bodhisattva, and no Buddha. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, can you say unarisen Dharma, unarisen Dharma? Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, do you have confidence in saying unarisen Dharma, unarisen Dharma? Venerable Shariputra said, I do not have the confidence to speak about the unarisen Dharma. What is the reason for that? Venerable Shariputra, thus what is the unarisen Dharma, what is confidence, what is speech, what is the unarisen, all these Dharmas are neither concordant nor discordant, neither corporeal nor visible, unobstructed, of one nature, that is, without self-nature. Shariputra said: Venerable Subhuti, speech is also unborn, confidence is also unborn, Dharma also
