The Great Realization. The Great Realization. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "For what reason, Blessed One, is a Bodhisattva called a Mahasattva?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, generate joy!" Subhuti said: "Blessed One, is it because the mind that is unequal and equal to the mind of enlightenment, the mind that is not common to all Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, the mind that is without defilements and does not belong to the three realms, is also without attachment because of its inherent emptiness, that it is included in the number of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas? What is the reason for that? Because this mind is not a mind, therefore there is no attachment to it." Then, the venerable Sariputra said to the venerable Subhuti: "Venerable Subhuti, what is the unequal and equal mind of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the mind that is not common to all Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas?" Subhuti said: "Venerable Sariputra, for this, from the time a Bodhisattva Mahasattva first generates the mind, he takes it closely, and does not truly see the arising or ceasing of any dharma, nor increase or decrease, nor coming or going, nor defilement or purification. Venerable Sariputra, for what has no arising and no ceasing, no increase and no decrease, no coming and no going, no defilement and no purification, there is no mind of a Sravaka, no mind of a Pratyekabuddha. Venerable Sariputra, this is the unequal and equal mind of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the mind that is not common to all Sravakas and Pratyekabuddhas." He said: "Venerable Subhuti, what you said, that for the mind of omniscience, the mind without defilements, the mind without realization, there is also no attachment, Venerable Subhuti, is it because of the inherent emptiness that there is no attachment to form?"

Then, is there no attachment to feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness? Is there no attachment even to the state of omniscience? He replied: Venerable Shariputra, it is so. Form is also without attachment. Feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness are also without attachment. The twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and the chain of dependent origination are also without attachment. The four meditations, the immeasurables, and the formless absorptions are also without attachment. The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are also without attachment. The eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas are also without attachment. Even the state of omniscience is without attachment. He asked: Venerable Subhuti, you said that the mind of omniscience is also without outflows and unattainable. Venerable Subhuti, is the mind of ordinary beings also without outflows and unattainable because of its emptiness of inherent existence? Are the minds of the Hearers, the Solitary Buddhas, and all the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, also without outflows and unattainable because of their emptiness of inherent existence? Subhuti replied: Venerable Shariputra, it is so. The minds of ordinary beings are also without outflows and unattainable because of their emptiness of inherent existence. The minds of the Hearers and the Solitary Buddhas are also without outflows and unattainable because of their emptiness of inherent existence. The minds of the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, are also without outflows and unattainable because of their emptiness of inherent existence. He asked: Venerable Subhuti, if that is so, then is form also without outflows and unattainable because of its emptiness of inherent existence? Are feelings, perceptions, formations, and consciousness also without outflows and unattainable because of their emptiness of inherent existence? The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, the ten powers of the Thus-Gone One, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddhas,
