The first apprehension of the apprehended, the nine kinds of apprehension belonging to the heat position. Then, the Blessed One said to the venerable Subhuti, "Well done! Well done! As you have said, it is well to teach as the best of those who abide in non-affliction. Well done! Well done! A Bodhisattva Mahasattva should thus train in the Perfection of Wisdom. He should thus train in the Perfection of Dhyana, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Morality, and the Perfection of Generosity. He should thus train in the Dharmas that are aspects of Enlightenment, and up to the eighteen unshared Dharmas of the Buddhas." Is it the case that a great courageous Bodhisattva studies the Prajñāpāramitā in such a way, that they study in a non-objective manner? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva studies the Prajñāpāramitā in such a way, in a non-objective manner. Shariputra asked: Blessed One, why is it non-objective? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, because of the utter purity, self is not an object. Because of the utter purity, sentient beings, life, nourishment, individuals, persons, those born of power, children, doers, experiencers, knowers, and seers are not objects. Because of the utter purity, suffering is not an object. Because of the utter purity, origination, cessation, and the path are not objects. Because of the utter purity, the desire realm is not an object. Because of the utter purity, the form realm is not an object. Because of the utter purity, the formless realm is not an object. Because of the utter purity, meditative stabilizations, immeasurables, and formless attainments are not objects. Because of the utter purity, mindfulness, correct abandonments, miraculous feet, faculties, strengths, limbs of enlightenment, and the path are not objects. Because of the utter purity, the perfections are not objects. Because of the utter purity, the ten powers, the four fearlessnesses, the four specific perfect knowledges, and the ten powers of the Tathagata are not objects. Because of the utter purity, the unmixed qualities of the Buddha are not objects. Because of the utter purity, stream-enterers are not objects. Because of the utter purity, once-returners, non-returners, Arhats, and solitary Buddhas are not objects. Because of the utter purity, Bodhisattvas are not objects.

Unborn, unoriginated, without characteristics, without manifestation, this is called purity. Shariputra, thus, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva learns by not focusing on all dharmas. This is shown in a general way in accordance with conceptualization. Question: Blessed One, what dharmas does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in this way learn? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who learns in this way does not learn any dharma. Why is that? Shariputra, these dharmas do not have such an appearance that ordinary people can manifestly cling to. Question: Blessed One, if so, what is the nature of these dharmas? The Blessed One said: As they are extinguished, so they exist; because they do not exist in that way, they are said to be non-existent. This is the first conceptualization of ignorance, belonging to the heat and associated with conceptualization. Question: Blessed One, why is it said to be non-existent because it is not existent? The Blessed One said: Shariputra, form is not existent because it is between the emptiness of the inner and the emptiness of the self-nature of non-things. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are not existent because they are between the emptiness of the inner and the emptiness of the self-nature of non-things. Between the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, they are not existent because they are between the emptiness of the inner and the emptiness of the self-nature of non-things. Up to the eighteen unmixed Buddha dharmas, they are not existent because they are between the emptiness of the inner and the emptiness of the self-nature of non-things. This is the second conceptualization of that, which is the conceptualization of the aggregates such as form. In this, the individual beings of ordinary people manifestly cling to ignorance and craving. They discriminate with ignorance and craving. Having discriminated, they manifestly cling with ignorance and craving, and because they cling to the two extremes, they do not see the two extremes as they really are.
