An Explanation of the Various Obstacles. An Explanation of the Various Obstacles. Having explained the benefits, one should then describe its obstacles. Faults are summarized into four sets of ten, which must be clearly understood as six. As it is said, it means forty-six. These, which are obtained with great difficulty, are what make the perfection of the pāramitās difficult to complete. Therefore, it will be greatly delayed and arrogance will arise, which is what is to be revealed. The so-called rapid arrogance is that when one first engages in the pāramitās, if arrogance arises very quickly in the place of practice, it should also be recognized as the work of Māra, which is what is to be revealed. There are three ways in which the body turns into a bad state, namely yawning, laughing, and asking each other questions. If so, it is an obstacle to the transformation of the body, which is what is to be revealed. Supporting means supporting the limbs of others with one's own implements. There are three bad states of mind, namely a distracted mind, mutually clinging to other letters and asking and listening, and saying, "I cannot understand the depth of this meaning," and getting up and leaving after generating this thought, which is an obstacle to the mind, which is what is to be revealed. Clinging to others is clinging to things with inverted discrimination and attachment, which is talking to each other, which is what is to be revealed. Reciting and so on with non-reasoning is shaking the head and so on with the transformation of the body, and holding and so on with the transformation of the mind, which is an interruption, which is what is to be revealed. The reason for turning away is that here I have not been prophesied, and my name has not been mentioned, so I have become unbelieving, which is what is to be revealed. Without examining places and so on, reasoning. The decline of manifest clinging to the cause is like the analogy of abandoning the roots of a tree and grasping the leaves and branches, which is because the cause is completely declining. Why is it so attached? What arises from the Prajñāpāramitā will cause the complete arising of the Dharma of the world and beyond the world, which is what is to be revealed. It is said that one declines from tasting abundant delicacies, that is, by the example of a dog, tasting abundant tea

The decline is shown by the meaning. Declining from holding the supreme vehicle is like wanting an elephant, finding the elephant, and then searching for the elephant's tracks, which shows by meaning the decline from the supreme vehicle. Declining from what needs to be done is like competing with the great ocean and the great ox, which shows by meaning the decline from what needs to be done. Declining from the relationship of cause and effect is like the excellent palace of a craftsman, wanting to build a palace with the measurements of the sun and moon, which shows the reversal of cause and effect, and in accordance with that, it shows by meaning the decline from the relationship. Declining from the unsurpassed state is like a universal monarch, wanting to build a small border country, which shows by meaning the decline from the state of Dharmakaya, which shows the work of the obstructing demon. The courage to arise with various objects of discrimination is to show that those dharmas do not exist and are not visible in this profound Prajnaparamita. Because many objects of dharma and so on arise, there is attachment to writing letters, attachment to non-things, attachment to the written letters of Prajnaparamita, attachment to the non-existence of these letters, attention to objects and so on, and gain, respect, tasting the flavor of verses, and being skilled in means by non-paths, etc. The seven interruptions are that since the nature of all dharmas is not existent, because there are no things, one cannot ask about non-things, therefore there is attachment to non-things, attachment to the written letters as being that, attachment to the written letters as being that, gain, respect, making one taste the flavor of verses, and being a Prajnaparamita, seeking skillful means from the Sutras held by the demons, which shows that it is the work of the demons. The decline of desire and laziness is that whether it is the speaker of the Dharma, the listener, and the obvious connection with each other, this shows the decline of desire and laziness towards each other.
