Explanation of the Aspects of the Śrāvaka Path Explanation of the Aspects of the Śrāvaka Path Its nature is how it is the path that specifically determines the paths of the Śrāvakas, etc., and realization is the path of the result. Thus, it is not for the Bodhisattvas who know the path, because it is not the abandonment of all forms of afflictions, as it is taught in the sense of the excellence of its own essence. Its function is how the path of the Śrāvakas, etc., is to cultivate abandonment in order to directly realize the true limit. The realization of the Bodhisattva is not like that, because otherwise, this very knowledge of the path is the cultivation of the function of maturing sentient beings, etc., and it is taught in the sense that the fruit of that function itself is excellent. Having taught the objects that make the knowledge of the path suitable, each determined, pervasive, its own essence, and functions, now the path of the Śrāvakas is to be spoken of, therefore: In the manner of the knowledge of the path, Of the four noble truths, Through the door of non-apprehension of aspects, This Śrāvaka path is to be known. Thus it is taught. How is it? Because the aggregates such as form are the six elements such as earth, and the apertures are said to be the element of space. The limbs of dependent origination, with the attention endowed with all aspects of knowledge, are the desire for the Śrāvaka vehicle, etc., because of the meaning of non-mixture. Impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace, disease, a sore, pain, sin, the other shore itself, the nature of destruction, shaking, utter destruction, fear, contagious disease, and harm are the aspects of the Śrāvaka path, because they are applied without apprehension, thus it is taught. Among them, from impermanence to peace are the aspects of the truth of suffering. From disease to sin are the aspects of the truth of origin. The other shore and the nature of destruction are the aspects of aversion to each of them. Shaking and utter destruction are detachment from desire for each of them.

The three actions are the aspects of the truth of cessation. The four kinds of definite arising are taught to be known in an unattainable manner through mindfulness of emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and non-action. How does definite arising occur, what definitely arises, and what is non-action, such as through the three doors of liberation? The nature of the aspects of enlightenment, the yoga of unattainability, is the aspect of the path, because they achieve the city of nirvana, hence it is the aspect of the path. Likewise, the practice of generosity and other perfections, called the unattainable union, is the aspect of reason because it is the reasoning of complete realization. Moreover, if one practices the Prajnaparamita, it is selflessness because one separately understands the self and the phenomena related to the self. Why is that? Because the mind of the root of virtue and the mind of enlightenment are not companions, therefore the mind of dedication is also not a companion of the mind of enlightenment and the root of virtue, hence the mind of enlightenment and the mind of dedication are not companions. Why is that? Because the two, the mind of enlightenment and the mind of dedication, do not exist in each other and are unattainable, therefore it is said to be the aspect of accomplishment, because it is accomplished for the sake of realization, hence it is accomplishment. Why is that? Because the mind of enlightenment and the mind of dedication are not minds, because they are not minds, it is unreasonable for what is not mind to be dedicated, therefore whatever is not mind is inconceivable. Whatever is inconceivable is not mind, thus manifesting attachment to the separate examination of phenomena is Prajnaparamita itself, therefore it is the aspect of definite arising, because going without manifest attachment is definite arising. Having finished explaining the sixteen aspects of the four noble truths as objects of focus on the path of the Hearers, now I will speak of what is in accordance with the parts of definite liberation. In the noble Hearer's path, form
