Do not engage in numerous conversations near where teachings are being received. Bow and rise from your seat, and sit with your knees on the ground. On paths involving night, water, or fear, proceed ahead if instructed. In the presence of the teacher, a wise person should not twist their body, nor lean on pillars or the like. Do not straighten the joints of your fingers. Washing feet and body, massaging, and so on, should be done with the hands first, and similarly, do as you please at the end. When mentioning their name, add "before your presence" after the name. To respect others, also use special words. To the lama, say "Please grant," and after saying "I will act according to your command," listen to the lama's instructions with palms joined and without distraction. Cover your mouth with your hand when laughing or spitting. After finishing a task, repeat it with gentle words. Sit respectfully in front, arrange your clothes properly, kneel with palms joined, and request three times if you desire to listen. In all acts of service and reverence, do not have pride in your mind. Abide with shame, fear, and restraint, like a new bride. All actions such as coquetry should be abandoned in the presence of the teacher. Furthermore, such actions should be examined and discarded by oneself. Consecrations, mandalas, fire offerings, gathering students, and giving teachings should not be done without permission if the lama is in that place. Whatever is obtained from activities such as eye-opening should be offered to the lamas. After taking what they have bestowed, give to others as you please. A lama's disciple is not a disciple, nor should a disciple be in front of the lama. Acts of service, reverence, standing, and prostrations should be avoided. Whatever is offered to the teacher, and whatever the lama bestows, should be received with both hands, bowing respectfully and with wisdom. With mindfulness and without forgetfulness, and diligence in one's own conduct, joyfully avoid exceeding the conduct of one's peers. Due to illness, do not proceed with the lama's activities without permission. Even if forbidden actions are done, they do not become sins for those with virtuous minds. What is the use of saying much here? Do whatever pleases the lama, and abandon all that displeases.
