The Detailed Ritual of the Heart Essence of Dependent Arising. The Detailed Ritual of the Heart Essence of Dependent Arising. In Sanskrit: Pratītyasamutpādahṛdayakalpaṃ. In Tibetan: The Detailed Ritual of the Heart Essence of Dependent Arising. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Of those dharmas that arise from causes, the cause and their cessation, The Great Ascetic has declared, such is the teaching of the Thus-Gone-One. This verse's ritual, benefits all sentient beings, For the sake of accomplishing all actions, it shall be explained according to the ritual. Therein, first, the practitioner should generate great faith in the Buddha, the Bhagavan, with a very joyful mind. One should also generate the mind thus: The Bhagavan, with this verse, spoke of sentient beings entering and returning from dependent arising in accordance with and not in accordance with the law, that is, if there are actions and afflictions, then sentient beings will enter into samsara, and if there are no actions and afflictions, then sentient beings will return from samsara. With this truthful speech, may my detailed ritual be accomplished. After that, one should speak these words: Homage to the Buddha! Homage to the Dharma! Homage to the Sangha! Homage to the perfectly complete Buddha with a Sangha of Shravakas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges! Homage to the solitary Buddhas! Homage to the Arhats! Homage to the Non-Returners! Homage to the Once-Returners! Homage to those who have attained the jewel! One should recite thus. In this order, all their actions should be combined according to the ritual of this verse. Such is the first detailed ritual. Then, one should visualize on one's own palm or body the body of the Buddha, the Bhagavan, adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great being, embellished with the eighty minor marks, abiding peacefully in the fire element. Such is the ritual of remembering the deity. Now, the combination is to be written, struck by plague

And, for headaches and eye pain, etc., it should be done in the manner desired, striking with the fist of the right hand. For plagues lasting three days, four days, continuously, and those afflicted by unbearable plagues, a thread spun by a young girl should be recited one hundred times and tied on. Similarly, for incense pills that dispel plagues, recite as desired and then fumigate. For those afflicted by heart disease and rib pain, recite ten or twelve times over water and have them drink it. Or, for medicine that is beneficial for that disease, recite and then have them take it. For scabies, ringworm, pox, blisters, etc., and festering wounds, recite over soil from an anthill as before and then apply it. For pox on the anus or penis, recite over a Capparis fruit pill or a Bodhicitta pill and then apply it. In short, whatever form of disease one is afflicted by, one should understand its severity, and then, with this verse, recite more or less twenty or thirty times and then apply or smear it on. For those afflicted by diarrhea, recite five or six times over medicinal juice or other substances of pills and then feed it. This is the ritual for curing such diseases. Then, for crops such as barley, wheat, rice, mung beans, kidney beans, cotton trees, grapes, Terminalia chebula, etc., which are infested by insects that eat the grain, and which are infested by butterflies, mice, sparrowhawks, tits, etc., in order to seal their mouths, one should know the area of the field, and then recite one hundred and eight times over a handful or slightly more of sand or ashes and scatter it in the field. This is the ritual for benefiting crops. Similarly, if it rains too much, recite twenty-one times over each mandala flower offered to the Bhagavan. In an uncovered place, make a square mandala with cow dung, place a vase in the center, and place a clay bowl on top. By burning the recited mandala flowers in the clay bowl, the rain will stop. This is the ritual for stopping rain. Similarly, to prevent hail
