Severing the Body-Mind Connection of the Yogi Through Sound as the Ultimate. Marme Metok Zangpo. Severing the Body-Mind Connection of the Yogi Through Sound as the Ultimate. Marme Metok Zangpo. Homage to glorious Vajravidāraṇa. The ultimate instruction. The generation stage and completion stage of meditation through sound as the ultimate, severing the body-mind connection of the practitioner: The characteristics of a qualified lama with lineage, the essence of the instruction of sound as the ultimate is clear, filling the hearts of qualified and faithful disciples, accomplishing the benefit of both self and others, thus having the name of a fully enlightened Buddha, the body-mind connection does not remain. This profound nature of reality, desiring to bring it into the realm of the Buddha, therefore, the lama who possesses the qualities as spoken in the scriptures is most precious. To such a lama, the profound heart essence instruction that has not been interrupted from the Buddha's lineage, the obstacles to reaching the essential point are small, the disciple is qualified, diligent in practice, and possesses faith, through the meditation of ultimate abiding. For the meditation of severing the body-mind connection, if one puts effort into practice, then the benefit of both self and others will arise, namely: inwardly, by being liberated from the edge of the sound of reality, self-benefit is gradually perfected; outwardly, it is not abiding at the edge of the sound of reality, but abiding in the ultimate nature, therefore, other-benefit is gradually perfected, therefore, it is called a Buddha. Like this, the limbs of meditation, having the characteristics of entering, are done in advance. Now, the main practice of meditation, severing the body-mind connection, is ninefold: relying on the horse of body transference, the order of how to do body yoga; then, holding the key points of one's own mind, searching for the aspects of faults and qualities; then, searching for the abiding place of the mind; placing the abiding place on one's own ground; abiding in this way, repeatedly practicing in the non-abiding wisdom; repeatedly practicing calculating the time of the union of one's own mind; the order of how to do mind yoga; if that does not become the ultimate meditation instruction, the order of how to adjust; not clinging to the edge of sound, observing its meaning, relying on the continuum of the yogi; from the master who arises renunciation from the aspects of the activities of the mind, showing the measure of definitely liberating into meditation through sound as the ultimate. First, the body.

The explanation of how to perform physical yoga based on the horse of transference: By transferring the body from its own causes and conditions, one can freely enjoy common and supreme accomplishments. By transferring to the form and posture of deities, one can sever the continuity of ordinary habits. By transferring from the illusion of dharmata to the illusion of wisdom, one can sever the connection between body and mind. Transferring to the elements is to always practice the yoga of the four or five elements. The yoga of earth is to perform various bodily ablutions and the vase ritual. Likewise, perform ablutions with water, fire, and wind, and perform the vase ritual on the body. The ablution of space is to strip the body naked and always perform ablutions with the five ambrosias. When performing the yoga of earth, recite the vidya-mantra one hundred and eight times on various earths, and anoint the body three times a day, massaging the body from head to toe. The yoga of water is the same as the ablution ritual. The yoga of fire is to use various kinds of wood as fuel and place them inside a vase. Recite the mantra as before, and then light a fire filled with ghee at the mouth of the vase. Burn the hair and beard, etc., three times a day and three times a night. The yoga of wind is to fill the vase with wind from all four directions. Recite the mantra and then face the direction from which the wind came and perform the ablution. The yoga of space is to perform the ablution of ambrosia, place the vase on a throne in space, and strike it from all directions with the mantras of the vidya-mantra deities. By doing this, the sins of the body, even as small as a sesame seed, will be purified without exception, and if done one hundred and eight times, the body will not be able to remain. If this is done regularly, one will be able to control the elements of the body in common, and in supreme, one will attain the body of Vajradhara and enjoy various signs and miracles. Transferring to the form and posture of deities is similar to the generation stage. By transforming the attachment to the ordinary body into the body of a wisdom deity, the sins of attachment to the body will not be able to remain. Transferring from the illusion of dharmata to the illusion of wisdom means that the body has never existed, so it appears clearly in emptiness, and therefore there is no place to go from dharmata. Since it has no inherent nature, everything is merely imputed.
