The Ritual of Accepting Disciples for the Benefit of Others The Ritual of Accepting Disciples for the Benefit of Others Preliminary Adoration ༄. །In Sanskrit: Śiṣya Anugraha Vidhiḥ. In Tibetan: The Ritual of Accepting Disciples for the Benefit of Others. Homage to Vajrayogini. From then on, the secret will be revealed. Recalling the kindness of the Guru, for the purpose of accomplishing various methods of practice, the most supreme ritual of accepting disciples. First, for the purpose of the Guru accepting disciples, or, a yogi who possesses the meaning of the four letters called Śrī Heruka, in a place that suits his mind, such as a soft cushion, etc., write mantras on the fingers, and place the fine wine that is completely blended with the five ambrosias in a lotus vessel, as the ritual prescribes. ༄. །Having purified, bathe oneself with the essence of lotus. After that, in order to protect the place, oneself, and the yogi, first ring the hand bell, and demarcate the boundaries with the sound of the four-faced mantra such as Sum-bha, write the six armor mantras, and protect the mind by reciting the mantra with the three purifications. After that, on a completely clean ground, smear a mandala of about one cubit, draw a hexagonal chakra with red sandalwood, etc., and write the seed syllable of Vajrayogini in its center. Write the mantra of the Wheel-Turning King on the six corners, and as the oral instruction prescribes, instantly generate the mandala of the Bhagavati Mother with six heroines. Then, contemplate that the outer perimeter is adorned with eight forms such as the Crow-Faced Mother, etc., and the eight charnel grounds. Then, offer perfectly with Argha, etc. Then, as the ritual prescribes, invoke, introduce, bind, and delight the Wheel of Wisdom, as well as bless the body, speech, and mind, etc., and after tasting the nectar, praise and ask for forgiveness. This is the Preliminary Adoration. The Outer Offering Ritual ༄. །Then, in order to accept disciples, on the tenth day, as before, in the center of the smeared mandala, properly place a musical instrument vessel filled with fine divine wine, and place a kapala vessel on top of it.

Now, after wiping with immaculate saffron and the like, sift the powder of Sindhura, and conspicuously write according to the ritual with a golden pen. Invite and settle the wheel of wisdom, and offer with offerings and the like. After that, praise the eight-legged Vajravarahi, the Bhagavati, with the vajra bell leading the way, cover it with a red cloth and place it. Then, offer tormas to the guardians of the directions, recite the hundred-syllable mantra three times, and ask for forgiveness. ༄། །Please grant permission, this is the outer offering ritual for the sake of accepting disciples. The ritual of especially settling the vase ༄། །After that, a vase with characteristics should be properly placed. A red cloth should be used as a neck ornament, and it should have leaves such as mangoes, and be equipped with the five precious substances, the five medicines, and the five grains. On the mandala of accomplishment, perform the invitation and settling of the wheel of wisdom, and finally offer offerings such as argha. Perform the blessings of body, speech, and mind, empowerment, and the tasting of nectar according to the ritual. Make offerings with offering water and the like, and praise with the mantra of the eight-legged one. Place the vajra vase with a garland of red flowers on top, and recite those mantras for as long as desired. Dissolve the mandala by scattering red flowers, and look at the essence with that. This is the ritual of especially settling the vase from the acceptance of disciples. The ritual of descending wisdom ༄། །Then, after that, the qualified disciple with unwavering reverence for the Guru and the Buddhas, makes a mandala and repeatedly prays: The nature body of all Buddhas, I take refuge in the Guru. Glorious Vajrayogini, please bless me. Just as the great offering was given to Bodhi Vajra Buddha, in order to guide me, please grant me the Vajra of space. Thus it is said. On the tenth day, the Guru with compassion holds the hand of the disciple and says: The mind covered by thoughts, as if turning away the beautiful Buddha, the mind washed with pure water, settle here with a beneficial mind.
