A Praise of Confession Chandra Gomi A Praise of Confession Chandra Gomi ༄། །In Indian language: Deśanā stava. In Tibetan: A Praise of Confession. Homage to youthful Mañjuśrī! Unsurpassed king of physicians, guide of beings, Free from all faults, source of qualities, Taking refuge in you, always remembering, I confess the changes of my own faults. Like a river current extremely difficult to cross, Possessing waves of bad views and thoughts, When agitated by affliction-water monsters and whirlpools, Even my own mind has no peace. When the waves of the ocean of desire greatly surge, If one relies on an impure vessel, Then my mind will be consumed by the fire of hatred, Surely burned like dry grass, nearly destroyed. In order to pacify the suffering of the fire of hatred, Even if one meditates on a pool of love, Then the mind is seized By the mud of attachment, desiring the happiness of all beings. In order to purify the stain of the mud of attachment, Even if one washes it with the water of equanimity, Then the compassion of the world's protector, Who alleviates the suffering of all beings, is also diminished. O Lord, if one meditates on compassion, Then I generate great sorrow everywhere. If one relies on joy in order to pacify this, The wavering mind becomes mere laughter. If one generates sadness in order to pacify joy, Then the mind becomes helplessly dejected. If one praises the inferior through effort, Then one becomes the playground of the enemy of pride. As an antidote to that, one meditates on emptiness of all, Then one becomes devoid of effort for the sake of others. If one relies on conventionality for the sake of that, Then the thought of wealth arises in the mind. If the mind is attached to wealth and so on, Then one pours the wine of all faults, And intoxicated by the sleep of arrogance and ignorance, All aspirations are destroyed. Whenever I want to give, Powerful miserliness surely seizes me. Even if I overcome that and give, Then I regret it for a long time. Even if I generate faith again with faith, Then I fall into the result of another world. If I give up hope by knowing impermanence, Then I am dejected by laziness without reason. O Protector,

The world is utterly oppressed by suffering, Considering that even in the past they have been relatives, Even if one wishes to act for the benefit of others, One is involuntarily seized by the notion of self. Following the view of self, pride ensues, It is that which completely grasps as "mine". There, pride, arrogance, and desire, etc., Like enraged enemies, utterly destroy. Whenever the fearsome ones are like a host of demons, The net of afflictions completely increases, At that time, like an unpleasant omen, The darkness of the black side greatly increases. Sins are unspeakable, and repentance is difficult to heal, Birth is suffering, and change is unbearable, What greater harm is there than that? Even so, one indulges oneself in it. If one turns away from causing harm to others, Which is the source of various sufferings, A wicked person makes an innocent one an enemy, And disturbs them with cruelty like the edge of a sword. Whenever one wishes to make one's mind patient, At that time, one is bound by the fetters of their misdeeds, That is restrained and completely bound, extremely fierce, The fire of hatred completely scorches, devoid of love. Like unpleasant poisonous substances, Dwelling within, and the wise abandon, Likewise, concealing the conduct of anger, It abandons all the virtuous thoughts of self. Like a stone scorched by the rays of the sun, Completely dried up, like dust turned to ashes, Like a path covered with heaps of sand, In my mind, there is no meaning of the rain of Dharma. Without considering one's own unbearable suffering, Whoever strives to benefit me, With patience and generosity, greatly benefits, Even that protector of the world, I cannot endure. Whether hating, fleeing, or approaching, Or being extremely distracted, or resisting, Constantly and incessantly teaching one like me, I do not think that such a one is a lama. Even having gone and prayed, it is difficult to find, At the time of patience, it is the supreme great medicine, If one cannot endure the state of patience, What other cause of patience do I have? Seized by the demon of afflictions, the mind is disturbed, Even for me, who is afflicted with illness, there is no diligence for benefit, Seeing one who is worthy to be beheld by the world, The primary arising is hatred for self, is it not compassion?
