Praise Beyond Comprehension by Nagarjuna Praise Beyond Comprehension Nagarjuna In Sanskrit: Acinta Stavam. In Tibetan: Praise Beyond Comprehension. Homage to youthful Manjushri! You have declared that all phenomena arising from interdependence are devoid of inherent existence. I prostrate to you, the incomparable wisdom, inconceivable and without parallel. As you have realized the selflessness of phenomena in the Great Vehicle, you have taught it to those with intelligence, out of the power of your compassion. You have said that what arises in dependence on conditions is unborn. Because it is unborn by its very nature, it is thoroughly taught as emptiness. Just as here, relying on sound, echoes arise in the valleys, and like illusions and mirages, so it arises in all existence. If illusions, mirages, cities of gandharvas, reflections, and dreams are unborn, seeing, etc., become unparalleled. As what arises from causes and conditions, you consider them to be conditioned. Likewise, all that arises from conditions, O Protector, you have said so. Whatever children say, saying that it has been done, is like a void of annihilation. It is not in accordance with reality, it is well taught. When the object of action is unborn, then what is happening now, by what will it become past? How will the future be seen? Objects do not arise from themselves, nor from others, nor from both. Not existent, not non-existent, not existent and non-existent, then from what will something else arise? What is unborn has no nature. Therefore, from what does everything arise? Since the nature of things is established as non-existent, it does not arise from others either. If self exists, then other will exist. If other exists, then self exists. These are established as interdependent. It is said to be like the near shore and the far shore. When it does not depend on anything, then what arises from what? When it does not depend on long, then where are short, etc.? As one, etc., do not exist, so are the past and future, etc. Likewise are the afflictions, and what is right and wrong from self? If no object exists from self, then what is everything? What is called other, is not if there is no self-nature. When there is no object of other,

At that time, all phenomena are without inherent existence. If at that time, one grasps other things as real, what real vehicle is there? From the very beginning, it is equal, and its nature is also extinguished. In reality, it has never arisen. Therefore, you have proclaimed the dharmas. O wise one, you have revealed that forms and so on are without inherent existence, like bubbles, foam, illusions, and so on, like mirages and plantain trees. Whatever the senses perceive, if it truly exists, even a child should be able to recognize it correctly. What need is there for true knowledge? The senses are inanimate objects, and they are not valid cognitions. You have said that they are uninformative and also inverted comprehensive knowledge. Whoever does not understand something, having truly comprehended it, therefore, you have said that the world is obscured by ignorance. Saying "it exists" is to view it as permanent. Saying "it does not exist" is to view it as annihilation. Therefore, you have taught the dharma that is free from the two extremes. Therefore, you have declared that all dharmas are free from the four extremes. Consciousness is also not truly existent, like dreams and illusions arising from eye ailments, like seeing two moons and so on. The arising of beings, you see as not truly existent. Just as in a dream arising from causes, the objects seen, the arising of all things, you also consider their destruction in the same way. Likewise, suffering such as attachment, the suffering of samsara, all afflictions, the complete accumulation and liberation, you have said are like dreams. Likewise, birth and non-birth, coming and going, likewise, bondage and liberation, for wisdom, clinging to duality is not true wisdom. What is born from what is not born, what nirvana is there for that? Like an illusory elephant, it is inherently peaceful from the beginning. Even though it appears to be born, it is unborn, like an illusory elephant. Likewise, everything is born, or in reality, unborn. The protector of the world, immeasurable light, liberates immeasurable beings, causing them to individually attain nirvana, but they have not been liberated. Great hero, since beings are not born from themselves, therefore, no one has been liberated by anyone, you have clearly proclaimed. Just as a magician does.
