Riding blue animals, arranged in order. Regarding the attributes, the right hands hold iron hooks, and the left hands hold phurbas (ritual daggers); whichever is convenient. These are the four earth mothers. Remati, with a black body, one face, and two arms, holds a mirror and a snake lasso in her right hand, and an iron phurba in her left, riding a three-legged mule or horse. Remati, with a yellowish-black body, one face, and two arms, holds a turquoise axe in her right hand, and a golden box in her left, adorned with peacock feathers, riding a female deer. Remaza, with a reddish-black body, one face, and two arms, holds a skull cup filled with blood and adorned with a chignon in her right hand, and an iron hook in her left, wearing animal skin, riding a black water buffalo. Remazu, with a greenish-black body, one face, and two arms, holds a wooden staff in her right hand, and a dark blue pennant of five-colored threads with silk tassels in her left, riding a crow. All four have dark blue matted hair; they are the four self-arisen mothers. The iron woman, with the face of a jackal, holds a skull staff in her right hand and a phurba in her left. Naked, with a single braid of hair, adorned with a silk diadem. Riding a nine-headed iron jackal. The yellow woman, with the face of a leaping animal, holds an iron hook in her right hand and a phurba in her left. Naked, with a single braid of hair, adorned with a silk diadem. Riding a golden leaping animal with eight tongues. The copper woman, with the face of a fox, holds a vajra (diamond scepter) in her right hand and a phurba in her left. Naked, with a single braid of hair, adorned with a silk diadem. Riding a three-legged copper fox. The turquoise woman, with the face of a dog, holds a field in her right hand...devouring a small human corpse in her mouth, and a phurba in her left. Naked, with a single braid of hair, adorned with a silk diadem. Riding a shaggy turquoise female dog; these are the four dog women. The body colors and attributes of the twelve oath-bound deities should be depicted and meditated upon in this way. Incidentally, the seventh question is: In the Thangkas of Snaydongtse, almost all the Dakinis (Kha-dro-ma) are depicted riding animals and being praised; how is this so? Answer: There is no great contradiction in the Dakinis (Kha-dro-ma) themselves. In other paintings such as Mandala Thangkas, there is usually no riding. The appearance of riding during praise is because it is a statement that drives away enemies and obstacles, meaning that they are driven away from that place. This is the concise answer. Salo Kunga respectfully accepted these teachings with the crown of his head; this is the virtue of Ngag-gi Wangpo, the holder of mantras. May all be auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
