The Differentiation of the Buddha's Bodies Homage, offering, and refuge in the body and wisdom of the Buddha Bhagavan, which are wonderfully perfect and extremely rare and great! Here, having made pure and vast aspirations, at the time of stating the power of truth: May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the one body of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the two bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the three bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the four bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the five bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the six bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the seven bodies of the Buddha, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the eighteen realms of the Buddha! May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the four wisdoms, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the five wisdoms, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the nine wisdoms, May these aspirations be fulfilled as desired by the blessings of attaining the fourteen wisdoms! What is meant by 'the blessings of attaining the one body of the Buddha' is simply the one body of profound nature, which is the one body of ultimate truth. This is like 'Nirvana is the only truth,' and 'Apart from the Dharmadhatu, there is no such thing as Dharma,' and 'The only solid Vajra nature,' and so on, as widely stated. Because in nature, all conventions are not established, so even the Rupakaya (form body) is not established, let alone anything else? The Dharmakaya (dharma body) of ultimate truth is not unestablished, because it abides as the basis of all conventional dharmas, and is permanently established as the unchanging, eternal, steadfast, and spontaneously accomplished unconditioned realm. Therefore, its blessing is also the blessing of ultimate truth that pervades the sky. The two bodies are: the Dharmakaya (dharma body) of ultimate truth and the Rupakaya (form body) of convention, that is, the holy Dharmakaya and the holy Rupakaya. This is also like the meaning of 'May I attain the two holy ones arising from merit and wisdom.' The three bodies are well known. The four bodies are: Svabhavikakaya (nature body), Dharmakaya (dharma body), Sambhogakaya (enjoyment body), and Nirmanakaya (emanation body). Here, it is necessary to understand the difference between the two truths of Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is necessary. The Five Kayas (སྐུ་ལྔ་) refer to the body that understands the ultimate truth (དོན་དམ་བདེན་པ་) itself as the five self-born wisdoms (རང་བྱུང་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྔར་), that is, possessing the nature of the five Buddha bodies (སངས་རྒྱས་སྐུ་ལྔའི་). 'Lord of the pervasive five wisdoms (ཁྱབ་བདག་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལྔ་ཡི་བདག),' this is the meaning of what is said. That is, the emanation body (སྤྲུལ་པ་) of the ultimate truth, the complete enjoyment body (ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་པ་), the dharma body (ཆོས་), and the nature body (ངོ་བོ་ཉིད་སྐུ་), the four kayas of the ultimate truth plus the great bliss body (བདེ་བ་ཆེན་པོའི་སྐུ་) are the five kayas. The Six Kayas (སྐུ་དྲུག་) refer to the four kayas of the ultimate truth and the two kayas of the conventional truth (ཀུན་རྫོབ་ཀྱྀ་). The Seven Kayas (སྐུ་བདུན་) refer to the five unconditioned (འདུས་མ་བྱས་ཀྱི་) kayas of the ultimate truth and the two conditioned (འདུས་བྱས་) form kayas (གཟུགས་ཀྱི་སྐུ་) of the conventional truth, the first of which is encompassed by the cessation truth (འགོག་བདེན་) in order. The Eighteen Buddha Kayas (རྒྱལ་སྐུ་བཅོ་བརྒྱད་) refer to the eighteen kayas of the victorious Buddha, that is, the sixteen kayas of the ultimate truth and the two kayas of the conventional truth. Among them, the first sixteen, in the 'Great Commentary: Stainless Light' (འགྲེལ་ཆེན་དྲི་མ་མེད་པའི་འོད་དུ།) it says: 'He alone, by the distinction of body, exists in sixteen aspects (དེ་ཉིད་གཅིག་པུ་སྐུའི་རབ་ཏུ་དབྱེ་བས་རྣམ་པ་བཅུ་དྲུག་སྲིད་[མེད་[མི་]སྲིད་པར་བཞུགས།)'. The latter two are the well-known conventional truth emanation body (སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་) and the complete enjoyment body (ལོངས་སྤྱོད་རྫོགས་སྐུའོ།). The Four Wisdoms (ཡེ་ཤེས་རྣམ་བཞི་) refer to the four wisdoms of other-born wisdom (གཞན་བྱུང་ཡེ་ཤེས་) conditioned (འདུས་བྱས་ཀྱི་), that is, the mirror-like wisdom (མེ་ལོང་ལྟ་བུ་) and equality (མཉམ་པ་ཉིད་) and discriminating wisdom (སོ་སོར་རྟོགས་པ་) and accomplishing wisdom (བྱ་བ་གྲུབ་པའི་ཡེ་ཤེས་སོ།) separated from the wisdom of the true wisdom (ཡང་དག་ཡེ་ཤེས་) path truth (ལམ་བདེན་གྱི་). These four are established as the non-erroneous perfectly established nature The Five Wisdoms (ཡེ་ཤེས་རྣམ་ལྔ་) refer to the five wisdoms of the ultimate truth cessation truth (འགོག་བདེན་) unconditioned (འདུས་མ་བྱས་ཀྱི་), that is, suchness and the unchanging perfectly established nature (ཡོངས་གྲུབ་བོ།). The Nine Wisdoms (ཡེ་ཤེས་རྣམ་དགུ་) refer to the five wisdoms of the ultimate truth cessation truth and the four wisdoms of the conventional truth path truth. The Fourteen Wisdoms (ཡེ་ཤེས་བཅུ་བཞི་) refer to the five wisdoms of the ultimate truth, divided into ten wisdoms by the distinction of means (ཐབས་) and wisdom (ཤེས་རབ་ཀྱི་), that is, the five aggregates (ཕུང་པོ་ལྔ་) and five elements (ཁམས་ལྔའོ།) of the ultimate truth. Considering this, it is said: 'Having the nature of pure ten wisdoms (ཤེས་བཅུ་རྣམ་དག་བདག་ཉིད་ཅན།), holding the pure ten wisdoms (ཤེས་བཅུ་རྣམ་དག་འཆང་བ་པོ།)'. Adding the four other-born wisdoms on top of this makes fourteen. Among them, the four other-born wisdoms are explained in the 'Buddha-bhūmi Sūtra' (སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་སའི་མདོ་) and the 'Great Madhyamaka Sūtra Ornament' (དབུ་མ་ཆེན་པོ་མདོ་སྡེའི་རྒྱན་ལ་སོགས་པར་) and other scriptures, while the five self-born wisdoms are explained in the profound secret mantras (གསང་སྔགས་ཟབ་མོ་རྣམས་སུ་). The ten wisdoms or the ten consciousnesses are mentioned as the names of the ultimate truth, and in the 'Noble Vajra Essence' (འཕགས་པ་རྡོ་རྗེའི་སྙིང་པོས།), the five aggregates and five elements of the ultimate truth are explained. In this way, for the kayas and wisdoms, they are divided into two truths, divided into dharmata (ཆོས་ཉིད་) and dharmin (ཆོས་ཅན་), and divided into unconditioned and conditioned.
