Then, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Avalokiteśvara Powerful Lord, surrounded by many vidyādhara mantra holders, went to where the Blessed One was, bowed to the Blessed One's feet with his head, circumambulated three times, and sat down in one direction. He then said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, this essence called the Eleven-Faced One is spoken by eleven billion Buddhas. It benefits all sentient beings, completely pacifies all diseases, averts sins and inauspiciousness, averts all bad dreams, averts all untimely deaths, makes the uninitiated have faith, and is taught to pacify all obstacles and wrong views. Blessed One, with this essence, protection is done, rescue is done, holding is done, peace and happiness are done, punishment is abandoned, weapons are abandoned, poison is destroyed, and there is no one who can oppose it. In this world, including gods, demons, Brahmā, śrāmaṇas, and Brahmins, I have not seen anyone, except for the ripening of past karma. This essence is praised and contemplated by all Blessed Buddhas. Blessed One, my essence is rejoiced by all Tathāgatas. Blessed One, I remember that eons ago, as many as the sands of the Ganges, there was a Tathāgata called King of Light Who Destroys Time, formed by the crest jewel of a hundred lotus eyes. 所有如来皆现前，亦得不生之法忍，如是此我之精要，是为珍爱守护。如是故，具信之士夫或士女，当恭敬而诵此精要。莫作他念，当恒常诵持。早起诵一百零八遍，则于此生圆满执持十种功德。何为十？谓不患疴病，且为一切如来所摄受，不劳劬劳而得财谷珍宝，一切怨敌皆降伏，于诸王众敢于直言，身不为毒所害，珍宝不为毒所害，不为瘟疫所害，不为兵器所害，不作水淹死之期，不作火焚死之期，不作非时而死之期。复次，圆满执持四种功德，谓临终之时得见如来，不生于诸恶趣，不舍怖畏而作死亡之时，从此舍身之后亦得生于极乐世界。世尊，我忆念，于此往昔恒河沙数劫之更早之前，有如来名曼陀罗香出现。彼时我为居家者，持此而退转四万劫之轮回。我诵此精要故，得菩萨之解脱，诸佛之大悲行，名为智慧之精要。凡为系缚所缚者，凡为系缚所及者，以及为水、火、种种痛苦所逼恼之有情，我以此精要作彼等之依处、救护、救怙与助伴。夜叉与罗刹等怀恨者，亦以此精要。

All Tathagatas manifest. Also attaining forbearance of the Dharma of non-arising. Thus, this essence of mine is cherished and protected. Therefore, sons or daughters of good family who have faith should respectfully recite this essence. Without thinking of other things, always recite it. If one rises in the morning and recites it one hundred and eight times, in this life one will completely hold ten qualities. What are the ten? Namely, one will not have diseases, one will be completely protected by all the Tathagatas, without labor one will find wealth, grain, and treasures, all enemies will be subdued, one will dare to speak frankly in the assemblies of kings, the body will not be harmed by poison, treasures will not be harmed by poison, one will not be harmed by plagues, one will not be harmed by weapons, one will not make the time of death by drowning, one will not make the time of death by burning, and one will not make the time of death by untimely death. Furthermore, one will completely hold four qualities, namely, at the time of death one will see the Tathagata, one will not be born in the evil realms, one will not make the time of death without abandoning fear, and after dying from here, one will also be born in the happy realm of the world. Bhagavan, I remember that from here, even earlier than countless kalpas like the sands of ten Ganges rivers, a Tathagata named Mandarava Fragrance appeared. At that time, I was a householder, and by holding this, I reversed the cycle of forty thousand kalpas. Because I recited this essence, I obtained the liberation of a Bodhisattva, the compassionate activity of all Buddhas, called the essence of wisdom.
