It is done. Sarva (藏文,梵文天城体:सर्व,梵文罗马拟音:sarva,汉语字面意思:all) means all that arises from such actions. Preta (藏文,梵文天城体:प्रेत,梵文罗马拟音:preta,汉语字面意思:hungry ghost) is the essence of a hungry ghost, meaning the maturation of the lineage of karma. Bhyaḥ (藏文,梵文天城体:भ्यः,梵文罗马拟音:bhyaḥ,汉语字面意思:from...) is for purifying karma and suffering. Svāhā (藏文,梵文天城体:स्वाहा,梵文罗马拟音:svāhā,汉语字面意思:well said) is may karma and suffering, hunger and thirst be purified. Now go quickly and nourish them in that way, he said. Then the two of them went quickly and did as he said, and then they were happy, enjoying themselves, and their bodies were moistened. Then, when it was time for the Dharma talk, the two of them took turns. Shariputra offered food, gave one portion, and when he gave water, he said the same thing as before and ran away. Again, the two of them did not believe it and went to report to the Blessed One. Blessed One, we have done as you said, and it seemed that they could be saved, but fearing that we would miss the Dharma talk, we went to look and said the same thing as before and ran away, and then we went to report again. He said, "That is because you mixed tsampa in between. First wash your hands and then give it. You don't need to go there, this itself will be enough," he said. The two of them washed their hands and gave water, and that hungry ghost woman came immediately and became slightly radiant. Then the Blessed One said again, "This kind of water offering should not only be done here, but should always be made as a vow and sent forth. Also, spread it widely to others. Why is that? Because the benefits of this are immeasurable and beyond measure. To put it briefly, it is like this: giving to some poor people is not even close to one hundredth of the merit of giving to the rich people in the world. Why is that? Because the rich are arrogant, and because of pride and satiety, they enjoy bad environments. Giving to some hungry ghosts is not even close to one hundredth of the merit of giving to the poor people in the world. Why is that? Because the poor can strive, can seek, and can beg. Hungry ghosts are not like that because of their karma. If it is not dedicated, even if it gets into their mouths, it will turn into a great poison. Giving a handful of water to one hungry ghost who is an obstacle is better than giving to the hungry ghosts of the world.

Then, the merit of that (action) is not even close to one in a hundred. What is the reason for that? Because those hungry ghosts are satisfied by visualization, satisfied by arrangement, satisfied by offering, satisfied by touching, satisfied by rejoicing, and also satisfied by washing, according to the order of karma. Blocking (འཇུར་འགེགས་) is that one cannot obtain the mantra, mudra, and visualization by the act of preventing others. Because one clings to all substances and blocks them, one cannot experience other substances. Because one does not block the water of others, one has no power over what has not been touched by clean water and tsampa. Apart from the mantra and mudra that pacify one's own continuum, nothing else can overcome a single 'se gol (སེ་གོལ་)'. (Question:) Why is it placed in a single 'se gol'? (Answer:) If it becomes two, it will become the sound of others and cannot be obtained, therefore, the sound that generates one's own understanding must be singular. This makes (the practitioner) not obstructed by obstacles, have few illnesses, have a long life, be endowed with enjoyment, be able to resolve indigestion, and make dim radiance bright. If this is transmitted to others, the continuum will be liberated, the continuum of hungry ghosts will be cut off, and ultimately one will attain perfect and complete enlightenment. Having spoken thus, those noble sons highly praised the words spoken by the Bhagavan. The dharani called 'Blocking' is complete. Translated and finalized by the translator of Zhuchen, Bande Yeshe De.
