འི་ཚེ། བཅིབས་པ་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་དེའི་མཆོད་རྟེན་ཞིག་ཀྱང་ཡོད་དེ། དེའི་ཚེ་གླང་པོ་ཆེའི་གཟུགས་ཅུང་ཟད་ཅིག་ཞིག་ནས། དེ་ལ་མི་ཞིག་ཕྱག་ འཚལ་དུ་འོངས་ནས། གླང་པོ་ཆེ་ཅུང་ཟད་ཅིག་ཞིག་པ་དེ་མཐོང་ནས་དེ་འདི་སྙམ་དུ་བསམས་སོ། །འདི་ནི་བྱང་ཆུབ་སེམས་དཔའི་བཅིབས་པའི་ཐེག་པ་ཡིན་ཏེ། འདི་ལྟར་ཞིག་པར་གྱུར་གྱི་བདག་གིས་སླར་གསོ་སྙམ་བསམས་ནས། འཇིམ་པ་ཞིག་སྦྱར་ཏེ་བསྐུས་པའི་སྟེང་དུ་ལྡོང་རོས་ཀྱིས་བསྐུས་ནས་འདི་སྐད་ཅེས་སྨོན་ལམ་བཏབ་བོ། །བདག་མ་འོངས་པའི་དུས་སུ་རྟག་ཏུ་ཆོ་རིགས་བཙུན་ཞིང་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་ཟད་མི་ཤེས་པ་དང་ལྡན་པར་ཤོག་ཤིག་ཅེས་སྨོན་ལམ་བཏབ་བོ། །མི་དེ་ཚེ་འཕོས་ནས་མཐོ་རིས་ཀྱི་ལྷར་སྐྱེས་ཏེ། ལྷ་ལས་ཚེའི་དུས་བྱས་ནས་མིའི་འཇིག་རྟེན་དུ་སྐྱེས་ཏེ། རྟག་ཏུ་ཆོ་རིགས་བཙུན་པ་དང་། ལོངས་སྤྱོད་དང་ལྡན་ཞིང་། བྱད་གཟུགས་འཕགས་པར་བཟང་སྟེ། གསེར་གྱི་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་རྟག་ཏུ་བསྲུངས་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་ལ་བཀའ་སྩལ་པ། དེའི་ཚེ་དེའི་དུས་ན་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་གསོས་པའི་མི་དེ་ནི་ད་ལྟར་དགེ་སློང་གླང་པོ་སྐྱོང་ཡིན་ནོ། །དེའི་ཚེ་གླང་པོ་ཆེ་གསོས་པ་དེ་ཚུན་ཅད་ལྷ་དང་མིའི་ནང་ན་ལོངས་སྤྱོད་ཆེན་པོ་དང་ལྡན་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །དཀོན་མཆོག་གསུམ་ལ་གུས་ཤིང་བསྟི་སྟང་བྱས་པས་ད་ལྟར་ང་དང་ཕྲད་ནས་བསྟན་པ་ལ་རབ་ཏུ་བྱུང་སྟེ། སེམས་ཀྱི་དྲི་མ་ཀུན་ཟད་དེ། དགྲ་བཅོམ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །ཚེ་དང་ལྡན་པ་ཀུན་དགའ་བོ་དང་། འཁོར་མང་པོ་རྣམས་བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་གསུངས་པ་འདི་ཐོས་ནས་ཐམས་ཅད་ཀྱིས་དོན་རྟོགས་ཤིང་ཁོང་དུ་ཆུད་དེ། ལ་ལ་ནི་རྒྱུན་དུ་ཞུགས་པ་དང་། ལན་ཅིག་ཕྱིར་ལྡོག་པ་དང་། ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པ་དང་། དགྲ་བཅོམ་པ་ཡང་ཐོབ་པར་གྱུར་ཏོ། །ཁ་ཅིག་ནི་བླ་ན་མེད་པའི་བྱང་ཆུབ་ཏུ་སེམས་བསྐྱེད་དེ། ཕྱིར་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་ས་ལ་གནས་སོ། །བཅོམ་ལྡན་འདས་ཀྱིས་གསུངས་པ་ལ་འཁོར་མང་པོ་མངོན་པར་དགའ་ནས་རྗེས་སུ་ཡི་རང་ངོ་། །གླང་པོ་སྐྱོང་གི་ལེའུ་སྟེ་བཞི་བཅུ་གཉིས་པའོ།། །། བཞི་བཅུ་གཉིས་པ། གླང་པོ་སྐྱོང་གི་ལེའུ།

之时。坐骑大象的佛塔也有一座。那时，大象的形体稍微有些损坏。有一人前来礼拜，见到大象稍微损坏，心中这样想：这是菩萨的坐骑之车乘，既然已经损坏，我应当修复。这样想着，便用泥土涂抹，又在上面涂上树脂，并发愿说：愿我未来世，恒常出身高贵，拥有用之不竭的财富。这样发愿。那人去世后，转生到高处的（三十三天）天界为天人。天人寿命终结后，转生到人间。恒常出身高贵，拥有财富，相貌端庄美好，并且恒常守护着金象。世尊告诉阿难说：那时，修复大象的人，就是现在的比丘象护。自从修复大象之后，他一直在天人和人中拥有巨大的财富。由于恭敬和尊重三宝，现在与我相遇，出家入佛门，一切心垢都已断尽，成为阿罗汉。具寿阿难陀和众多眷属听闻世尊所说，都理解了其中的含义。有些人证得了入流果，有些证得一来果，有些证得不还果，也有些证得阿罗汉果。有些人发起了无上菩提心，安住于不退转地。众多眷属对世尊所说感到非常欢喜，并随喜赞叹。象护品第四十二（终）。 第四十二品，象护品。

At that time, there was also a stupa of the elephant that was ridden. At that time, the form of the elephant was slightly damaged. A person came to pay homage to it, and seeing that the elephant was slightly damaged, he thought to himself: 'This is the vehicle of the Bodhisattva's mount. Since it has been damaged in this way, I should restore it.' Thinking this, he applied some clay and coated it with tree resin, and made this aspiration: 'May I always be of noble lineage and possess inexhaustible wealth in the future.' He made this aspiration. That person passed away and was born as a god in the higher realms (Trayastrimsa heaven). After his lifespan as a god ended, he was born in the human world. He was always of noble lineage, possessed wealth, and had an excellent and beautiful appearance. He was always protected by a golden elephant. The Blessed One said to Ananda: 'At that time, the person who restored the elephant is now the monk Elephant Protector.' Since he restored the elephant, he has always possessed great wealth among gods and humans. Because of his reverence and respect for the Three Jewels, he now meets me, enters the Dharma, and all defilements of his mind have been exhausted, and he has become an Arhat.' The venerable Ananda and the many attendants, having heard what the Blessed One said, all understood its meaning. Some attained the Stream-enterer, some the Once-returner, some the Non-returner, and some also attained Arhatship. Some generated the unsurpassed Bodhicitta and abided in the irreversible stage.
