There was nothing that did not benefit all sentient beings. In the abodes of the gods, they saw that light and heard the voice of the Dharma being taught, and their bodies and minds were completely purified. Some attained from stream-entry to arhatship. Some generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Some remained on the irreversible ground. Sentient beings belonging to the human realm, seeing the Buddha's light and hearing the Dharma taught, were overjoyed and delighted. Some attained from stream-entry to once-returner, and some ordained and attained the fruit of arhatship. Countless sentient beings generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment and remained on the irreversible ground. Those belonging to the realm of pretas, touched by the Buddha's light and hearing the Dharma, were all filled with food. Their bodies and minds were without suffering and they were satisfied. All of them gave rise to a compassionate mind, venerated the Buddha, and were liberated from the state of pretas, being born as gods and humans. The sentient beings belonging to the animal realm, seeing the Buddha's light, had all their minds of attachment and hatred pacified, and the darkness of their delusion was also awakened. All of them rejoiced in the Buddha and had faith, and were liberated from the animal realm, being born as gods and humans. For the sentient beings in the hell realm, the Buddha's light touched them, and the cold became warm, and the heat became cool. The torment of suffering also ceased, and their bodies and minds were greatly delighted. They had faith in the Buddha and were liberated from the hell realm, being born as gods and humans. At that time, King Kapila the Great and the petty kings of Gold Land, seeing such miracles, generated a very strong mind of faith, free from dust and free from defilement through faith. They obtained the pure Dharma eye for the Dharma, and the minds of eighty thousand petty kings were satisfied. Immediately, the Buddha withdrew the miracles and returned to the body of the Buddha, with the Sangha of monks surrounding him in front and behind, and sat down.

Thus it was shown. Then, the king of Golden Land also requested the Blessed One to ordain him, and the Blessed One granted him the word "Welcome." His hair and beard naturally fell off, and he became a monk wearing robes. By contemplating the Dharma, he exhausted his defilements and became an Arhat. Then, Ananda asked the Blessed One: What virtuous deeds did this king of Golden Land perform in the past, that he is of such noble lineage, with such excellent qualities, and able to meet the Buddha, the Blessed One, and immediately exhaust his defilements? The Blessed One said to Ananda: According to the actions of sentient beings, the fruits of karma will mature. In the past, the Buddha Light Protector appeared in the world, and after that Buddha passed into Nirvana, a householder built a stupa, made it a dwelling place for the Sangha, and also provided the four necessities of life. After a long time, that stupa also decayed, and the necessities of life, such as beds, clothes, and food, were also cut off. Then, that householder had a monk son, who preached the Dharma to many people, and again restored the stupa, providing clothes, bedding, food, drink, and beds, and with those people, with one mind, provided the necessities of life, and made this aspiration: May we in the future be powerful and wealthy, long-lived, and meet the Buddha who appears in the world, and after hearing the Dharma, may the fruit we attain not be ordinary. Ananda, at that time, that monk son of the householder was the great King Kapina of the land of Golden Land. He taught the Dharma, restored the stupa, and offered the necessities of life, as many as eighty thousand small kings. After the Blessed One spoke thus, many of the retinue generated irreversible minds, rejoiced, and were exceedingly delighted. The Twenty-fourth Chapter, the Chapter of the Great King Kapina, is complete. The Twenty-fourth Chapter, the Chapter of the Great King Kapina.
