Sixth, the chapter on practicing meditation. Sixth, the chapter on practicing meditation. Then, the Blessed One again said to the youth Moonlight: Youth, therefore, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva desires this samadhi and wishes to quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, he should practice this samadhi. Youth, what is the practice of samadhi? Youth, here, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, with a mind entering into great compassion, makes offerings to the Tathagatas, whether they are living or have passed into complete nirvana, such as with Dharma robes, alms, bedding, medicine for the sick, and implements, as well as flowers, incense, perfumes, garlands, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, banners, victory banners, musical instruments, and cymbals, diligently and tirelessly, and dedicates this root of virtue entirely to the attainment of samadhi. He does not make offerings to the Tathagatas for the sake of desiring any Dharma; he does not desire pleasures, he does not desire enjoyments, he does not desire heavenly realms, he does not desire samsara, but he is mindful of the Dharma. If he desires, then the Tathagata is not even perceived in the Dharmakaya, how much less would he perceive the Rupakaya? Youth, therefore, offering to the Tathagatas is like this, that is, not seeing the Tathagata, not fixating on oneself, and not hoping for the ripening of karma. Youth, if one offers to the Tathagata with this offering of the three circles being completely pure, then one will obtain this samadhi well, and one will quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Then, at that time, the Blessed One extensively and accurately revealed the practice of this samadhi to the youth Moonlight in verses: By offering incense to boundless wisdom, The fragrance of beings also becomes boundless. For hundreds of millions of kalpas, they will not go to evil destinies, Those will never again experience foul odors.

If for billions of kalpas, like the sands of the Ganges, one diligently practices various excellent deeds, And makes offerings to billions of Buddhas, imbued with the exquisite fragrance of wisdom, They will attain supreme wisdom, and achieve the Buddha's pure discipline and fragrance. If any sentient being gives incense, and likewise, to whom it should be given, Knowing that there is no mind that gives, this is called minor forbearance. If one cultivates great forbearance, for billions of kalpas, like the sands of the Ganges, Even if people cut and sever them with sharp instruments, their mind will never change. Why is it called forbearance? How is it called following along? Why is it said to be non-returning? Why is it also called Bodhisattva? In the nature of selflessness, there is forbearance towards the Dharma, knowing selflessness, there are no afflictions, Knowing all dharmas are like the nature of space, therefore, it is called forbearance. Following and learning from all the Victorious Ones, the wise do not engage in non-Dharma conduct, Not generating doubt in the Buddha's Dharma, this is called following forbearance. When practicing thus in the world, all the demons transform into Buddha bodies, saying, "You will hardly attain the fruit of enlightenment, diligently practice the Hearer's Vehicle," Even if they speak these words, they do not cling to them, and ultimately do not turn back because of them. Sentient beings do not conform to wrong discriminations, saying, "This is the path to attaining immortality," Abandoning the wrong path and establishing the right path, therefore, they are also called Bodhisattvas. Abiding in the path of following forbearance, awakened by knowing selflessness, Even in dreams, they do not cling to the existence of people, individuals, life, or sentient beings. Billions of demons, like the sands of the Ganges, transform into Buddha bodies and come before them, saying, "If there is no life force within your body, you will not achieve Buddhahood." With wisdom, they know the aggregates are empty, knowing this, they do not associate with afflictions, But act according to convention, and abide in Nirvana in this world. Just as a man has a son, And gives him a name, saying, "This is his name," that name cannot be found in any direction, That name does not come from anywhere. Likewise, the Bodhisattva is given a name, Boddhi
