Cutting off permanence, that is the behavior of an infant. Moreover, an infant is suffering, happy, day, night, and does not know parents. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also like that, for the sake of sentient beings, he does not see happiness and suffering, there is no such thing as day and night. Because the mind is equal towards all sentient beings, there are no characteristics such as parents and relatives. Moreover, an infant cannot do great and small deeds. A Bodhisattva Mahasattva is also like that, a Bodhisattva does not do the deeds of samsara, therefore it is called not doing. A great thing refers to the five heinous crimes, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva never commits the heavy sins of the five heinous crimes. A small thing refers to the mind of the two vehicles, a Bodhisattva never retreats from the mind of Bodhi, and does not fall into the Hearer and Solitary Realizer vehicles. Furthermore, the behavior of a child is that if an infant cries, the parents give a yellow willow leaf, saying: Child, do not cry, do not cry! I will give you gold, and when the infant sees that, he generates the thought that it is real gold, and stops crying. That willow leaf is not real gold. If an infant sees a wooden bull, horse, man, and woman, he generates the thought that it is a man and woman, etc., and stops crying. That is not a man and woman, but it establishes the thought of a man and woman, therefore it is called an infant. The Tathagata is also like that, if sentient beings do many unwholesome deeds, the Tathagata shows the thirty-three heavens of the permanence, happiness, self, purity, good appearance, enjoyment, and enjoying the five desires in a beautiful immeasurable palace, and all the antidotes to the six senses are only happiness and joy, and when sentient beings hear that there is such happiness, they generate a mind of attachment to happiness, abandon unwholesome deeds, and diligently engage in the wholesome deeds of the thirty-three heavens. That is actually samsara, it is impermanent, without happiness, without self, impure, but

To liberate sentient beings, the Tathagata speaks of permanence, bliss, self, and purity through skillful means. Furthermore, "posadha" means: If any sentient being is utterly weary of samsara, the Tathagata teaches the Two Vehicles. Although in reality there is no truth in the Two Vehicles, for the sake of the Two Vehicles, one knows the faults of samsara and sees the bliss of nirvana. Having seen this way, one will be able to understand what one cuts off and does not cut off, what is true and untrue, what one practices and does not practice, and what one obtains and does not obtain. Son of good family, just as a posadha generates the perception of gold in what is not gold, so too the Tathagata similarly teaches that what is impure is pure. Because the Tathagata has attained ultimate truth, there is nothing that is not true. Just as a posadha perceives what is not a cow or horse as a cow or horse, if any sentient being establishes the perception of what is not the path as the correct path, the Tathagata also teaches what is not the path as the path. Although there is no correct path in what is not the path, because it can slightly generate the cause of the path, what is not the path is taught as the path. Just as a posadha perceives wooden boys and girls as boys and girls, the Tathagata also similarly teaches the characteristics of sentient beings, even though he knows they are not sentient beings. In reality, there are no characteristics of sentient beings. If the Buddha, the Bhagavan, were to teach that there are no sentient beings, one would fall into viewing all sentient beings as evil. Therefore, the Tathagata has spoken of the existence of sentient beings. Establishing the perception of sentient beings as sentient beings means that the characteristics of sentient beings cannot be destroyed. Whoever destroys the characteristics of sentient beings as sentient beings will attain great nirvana. In order to attain such great nirvana, one will not weep, and this is called the conduct of posadha. Son of good family, if any man or woman holds, recites, reads, writes, or explains these five practices, that person will be known to have attained those five practices without being devoured by spirits. Then, the Bodhisattva Light Protector asked the Bhagavan

Then he spoke thus. "Venerable One, according to the meaning spoken by the Venerable One, I have also obtained those five practices without seeking them." The Blessed One said, "Son of good family, it is not only you who have obtained those five practices, but now in this assembly, ninety-three myriads of people, like you, have obtained those five practices." From the Sutra of the Great Nirvana, the chapter called "Practice of a Small Child," the eighth chapter is complete. Eighth Chapter: The Chapter Called "Practice of a Small Child."
