What need is there to mention rejoicing after hearing this Dharma discourse? O Mapama, I say that the merit accumulated by that is immeasurable and countless. O Mapama, any son or daughter of good family who, in order to hear this Dharma discourse, comes out of his own house and goes to a monastery, and having gone there, stands or sits there and listens to this Dharma discourse for even a moment, that sentient being, having done and accumulated so much merit, will obtain a bullock cart when he obtains a future body and a future self after that time. He will obtain a horse-drawn chariot, an elephant-drawn chariot, a palanquin, a boat, a vehicle of the best of cattle, and a palace of the gods. Furthermore, if one sits for a moment in that place where the Sutra is being preached, and listens to this Dharma discourse, or allows others to sit, or divides a seat for other sentient beings, that accumulation of merit will result in obtaining Indra's seat, Brahma's seat, and the lion throne of a Chakravartin. O Mapama, if any son or daughter of good family says to another working person, 'Hey, come here! Listen to this Dharma discourse called the White Lotus of the Good Dharma!' and if that person also finds joy and listens for even a moment, that sentient being, having accumulated the root of joy, will obtain association with the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who have obtained dharanis. He will not become foolish. He will become sharp-witted and endowed with wisdom. For hundreds of thousands of lifetimes, his mouth will not be rotten or smelly. He will be free from diseases of the tongue. He will be free from diseases of the mouth. His teeth will not turn blue. He will not have uneven teeth, yellow teeth, sparse teeth, green teeth, decayed teeth, or crooked teeth. His lips will not droop. His lips will not be sunken. He will not have everted lips. His lips will not be chapped. His lips will not be crooked. His lips will not be black. His lips will not be ugly. His nose will not be flat. His nose will not be crooked. His face will not become long.

འགྱུར། The face will not become round. The face will not become black. The face will not become unpleasant to look at. O Unconquerable One, in this way, the tongue and teeth, and the lips will become thin and very good. The nose will become large, the shape of the face will be good, the eyebrows will be good, and the forehead will be broad. One will obtain the complete marks of excellence. One will also obtain the teachings and subsequent instructions of the Thus-Gone One. One will also quickly meet with the Buddhas, the Bhagavad Ones. O Unconquerable One, look! Even by making one sentient being happy, one generates so much merit, what need is there to mention listening with reverence? Or reading with reverence? Or teaching with reverence? Or thoroughly explaining with reverence? Then, the Bhagavan at that time spoke these verses: Fifty people transmitting from one to another. Whoever hears one verse of this sutra, and after hearing it, rejoices in their heart, listen to how much merit arises. If a giver should appear, always to billions of sentient beings, all those examples I made earlier, satisfying them all for eighty years. White hair on the head, all wrinkles appearing, seeing those approaching old age, Alas! All these afflicted sentient beings, should be well taught by the Dharma. He later spoke the Dharma to them, and also thoroughly explained the place of Nirvana. All conditioned existence is like bubbles and mirages, quickly generate aversion to all conditioned existence. From the side of that giver, after all those sentient beings heard the Dharma, exhausting the defilements and taking the last body, even if they attain Arhatship at the same time. Whoever hears one verse through transmission, and how much merit arises from rejoicing, his merit is much greater than that, the previous accumulation of merit cannot match it. Whoever hears one verse through transmission, like that his merit increases, those are limitless and without measure, what need is there to mention hearing it directly? There, even speaking to one sentient being, even in billions of eons, this sutra is very difficult to obtain, go and say to listen to the Dharma and make them happy.

The brave man went from home to the temple, went there to listen to the sutra, and after going there, he listened to the Dharma for a while, listen to the fruit of faith. His body will become very white, the steadfast one will ride in a horse-drawn carriage, sitting on a tall elephant cart, walking with precious ornaments, and he will also get a very spacious residence, those many residences are lifted and respected by people. His going to listen to the Dharma will turn into such a good result. He sits among the family members, with those white deeds that have been done, the seats of Brahma and the seats of kings, and the seats of Indra, he will also obtain them.
