In hundreds of thousands of eons, the appearance of a Buddha is extremely rare. In the future, at the time of the final age, it is even rarer to expound this sutra. Then, the Blessed One addressed the Venerable Ananda, saying: Ananda, I entrust this sutra entirely to you. Why is that? Because as long as this sutra of the bodhisattva's collection remains in Jambudvipa, all the Buddha's teachings will remain. Ananda, because the profound sutra such as this disappears, as it has been shown, many dharmas that should be practiced will also disappear. Because the dharmas that should be practiced disappear as they have been relied upon, the Buddha's teachings will also disappear. Ananda, now you should offer to me with the supreme offerings. How will the Shravakas offer to me with the supreme offerings? You should not think that offering flowers, incense, incense powder, perfume, umbrellas, banners, canopies, clothes, musical instruments, cymbals, and praising the Tathagata are the supreme offerings. Ananda, you should not think that those are the supreme offerings. Whoever hears such a profound sutra, receives it, holds it, recites it, chants it, and diligently practices it as it has been shown, that is offering, serving, respecting, honoring, and praising the Tathagata with the supreme offerings. Why is that? Because all the Tathagatas offer, serve, and respect the Dharma, but do not venerate worldly offerings. Therefore, Ananda, now I entrust this sutra entirely to you with earnest diligence. Why is that? 我往昔行菩萨行时，此经亦曾如实修学，由此证得无上正等正觉，圆满成佛，并转无上法轮。未来诸佛亦将如实修学此经，由此证得无上正等正觉，圆满成佛，并善转无上法轮。现在十方世界所住之诸佛世尊，所有一切亦皆如实修学此经，由此证得无上正等正觉，圆满成佛，故当受持此经，名为「经」。时处在波罗奈斯鹿野苑，亦曾为声闻众转法轮。阿难陀，我今于此光明园林，亦为菩萨藏之法藏，转此不退转之法轮，断除一切众生之疑惑。阿难陀，过去诸如来亦曾于此虚空界，如实宣说此菩萨藏之经典。未来诸如来亦将于此虚空边际，如实宣说此菩萨藏之经典。我今证得无上正等正觉，圆满成佛后，亦于此虚空边际，如实宣说此菩萨藏之经典，因此，当知此地乃诸如来之大塔，为天人世间一切众生所应供养之处。阿难陀，此地独具不共之功德，即过去诸如来曾于此处如实宣说此甚深之经典。阿难陀，如是所有贪欲、嗔恚、愚痴之众生，若入此光明园林，则不会生起贪欲、嗔恚、愚痴。

Ananda, the past Tathagatas also thoroughly spoke this sutra of the Bodhisattva's vessel in this expanse of space. The future Tathagatas will also thoroughly speak this sutra of the Bodhisattva's Pitaka in this boundary of space. Having attained the unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha, I have also thoroughly explained this sutra of the Bodhisattva's Pitaka in this boundary of space, therefore, this ground should be known as the great stupa of the Tathagatas, a place to be worshiped by all beings in the world, including gods and humans. Ananda, this ground alone has such uncommon qualities, namely, that the past Tathagatas have fully spoken this profound sutra here. Ananda, if all sentient beings with such attachment, hatred, and ignorance were to enter this Light Garden, they would not arouse attachment, hatred, and ignorance.

Ananda, even if the Tathagata resides in other monasteries, they do not possess the same qualities as this one. Why is that? Ananda, if beings belonging to the animal realm enter this Kalandaka Kalandaka Light Garden, they will not generate desire; if many birds enter, they will not make untimely sounds. For example, when King Bimbisara of Magadha, after being crowned from the crown of his head, first ascended the throne, he entered this garden with his retinue of consorts to play together. As soon as he entered, he felt that he had no intention of engaging in games of desire. The retinue of consorts also felt individually that they had no affection for playing with minds of desire. The king was very pleased and thought: 'If a Buddha were to appear in the world and appear in my country, may I see him! Having seen him, may I also have deep faith in my heart! Having deep faith, may I also make offerings! And may I offer this garden to the Tathagata, and may the Tathagata also reside here, and may I hear the Dharma!' Why is that? Because this garden is a suitable place for offerings, it is my dwelling, and not the dwelling of those who have not abandoned the five desires. Ananda, the reason why King Bimbisara generated such a virtuous mind when he entered this garden is also because in the past, the Tathagatas resided in this garden and proclaimed the sutras of the Bodhisattva Pitaka. Therefore, the qualities that this garden possesses are not shared by other places, so all beings in the world, including gods, humans, and asuras, respectfully prostrate.
