Now, only in terms of sound and words have you understood a little, but you cannot know the way of its meaning. This meaning is very profound, not to be expressed in words, but to be realized by any wise person himself. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke in verses: Whoever does not understand the meaning, will feel sorrow for the Buddha's teachings. If one can understand the meaning, the Buddha will be his teacher. Whoever thinks of the Buddha as a teacher, is seeking Nirvana. Even without a mind of strife, one will contemplate the true Dharma. Here, Dharma is not born, nor does it perish. Without birth and death, that is the true nature of all Dharmas. For the Dharma that has no birth, there will be no action or arising. Is and is not, different and same, these do not exist in this Dharma. That is Nirvana, it has no distinction of cessation. What is called distance, near or far, both are empty. Whoever realizes emptiness, knows Nirvana. Whoever knows Nirvana, is called my disciple. Any Bodhisattva who possesses these four Dharmas, is like accumulating vast learning like a great ocean, which will not be exhausted, and constantly accumulates the treasure of vast learning, thereby obtaining the definite meaning of the Dharmas, and thus can well understand the meaning of words. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke in verses: Always wanting to seek vast learning, the Buddhas will praise him, and he will obtain the true definite meaning, therefore he will become like an ocean. Even if it is only one letter, or only one word's meaning, even if spoken for hundreds of thousands of billions of kalpas, it will not be exhausted. Therefore, one should seek the true Dharma, and after seeking, one should contemplate it properly. Do not cling to the characteristics of Dharma, nor cling to the praise of the Buddha. Remember the Tathagata, and remember the true Dharma. With a mind without desire and strife, completely seek the guide. Always for all sentient beings, cultivate the mind of loving-kindness. Without attachment to sentient beings, all Dharmas

All is pacified. A Bodhisattva of great renown, If one practices such a Dharma, One will quickly obtain the Dharani, Extensive learning arises from this. Just as the nature of the sky, Is without increase or decrease, So too is the nature of Dharma, It has neither increase nor decrease. Therefore, with the power of wisdom, Even if one becomes like the Joy of Extensive Learning, A Bodhisattva who has obtained Dharani, Even if he preaches the Dharma for countless eons to all those beings, his wisdom will not be exhausted. The Buddha's knowledge is incomparable, Like the sky, it is without limit. Just as the sky has no arising, So too is knowledge. Without the Naga taking water, Great rains are caused to fall, Although the water has no place to dwell, There is no end to the falling rain. Likewise, when a Bodhisattva Has obtained this Dharani, Although the Dharmas have no place to dwell, Explaining the causes will not be exhausted. Therefore, one should seek extensive learning, Having sought it, one should contemplate it properly, If one remembers the characteristics of the Dharma and the Buddha, Extensive learning arises from this. Love pervades all beings, Pacifying the characteristics of beings, And also pacifying the characteristics of Dharma, Extensive learning arises from this. The Second Chapter, Extensive Learning, is complete. Second, the chapter on extensive learning.
