Chapter Nineteen: Prophecy of the Other-Emanated Control Chapter Nineteen: Prophecy of the Other-Emanated Control Volume Seven: Then, at that time, eighty million kotis of gods of the Other-Emanated Control realm, including the king of gods, Ishvara, saw the offerings and heard the prophecies from the Asuras up to the gods of Paranirmita-vasavartin, and were satisfied, delighted, and pleased. Generating great joy and happiness, and peace of mind, they requested the Blessed One, saying: "Blessed One, regarding what the gods of Paranirmita-vasavartin said, 'the edge of reality,' we do not even perceive reality itself, so what need is there to speak of its edge? Why is that? Blessed One, if someone clings to reality, then the edge will also be clung to by them, and that is the realm of duality. Such a thing is not the realm of activity for sons of good family and daughters of good family who have rightly entered the vehicle." "Blessed One, if someone does not practice or believe that dharmas that are not dual are non-dual, and thinks in their mind, 'I shall awaken to perfect and complete enlightenment,' then they should be regarded as having entered the wrong path. Why is that? Blessed One, whoever aspires to enlightenment has entered the wrong path. Blessed One, there is no dharma to be awakened to perfect and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Blessed One, if one clings to any dharma, one cannot awaken to perfect and complete enlightenment. Blessed One, dharma is not past, not future, not present, not conditioned, not unconditioned, not existent, not non-existent, not to be realized, not to be fully known, not to be abandoned, not to be cultivated, not to be manifested. Blessed One, what is called enlightenment is not an antidote to any dharma, nor is any dharma an antidote to it. Why is that? Dharma is not completely afflicted, nor is it completely purified. Because the dharma that is the antidote to another dharma is also by nature invisible, and any dharma

Whatever other dharma is the antidote to that (place), none is observed by its own nature. Why is that? World Honored One, all dharmas are separated from characteristics. Those are not to be realized, not to be fully known, not to be abandoned, not to be cultivated, not to be manifested. World Honored One, form is separated from the characteristic of form. Feeling, perception, volition, and consciousness are separated from the characteristic of consciousness. Whatever is the characteristic of the arising of form, up to the arising between consciousness, that is also separated from the characteristic of arising. Whatever is the cessation of form, up to the cessation between consciousness, that is also separated from the characteristic of cessation. World Honored One, the past, the future, and the present are also separated from the past, the future, and the present. Conditioned phenomena are also separated from the characteristic of conditioned phenomena. Unconditioned phenomena are also separated from the characteristic of unconditioned phenomena. World Honored One, in that way, however much is grasped by the aggregates, or grasped by arising and cessation, or grasped by the past, or grasped by the future, or grasped by the present, or grasped by the conditioned, or grasped by the unconditioned, those are not observed in any way. That which is not observed in that way is not to be realized, not to be fully known, not to be abandoned, not to be cultivated, not to be manifested. World Honored One, whatever sons of good family and daughters of good family enter in that way, those are said to have truly entered the vehicle of the Bodhisattva. Then, after those gods of the Paranirmitavasavarti heaven prophesied according to the Dharma as they knew it, at that time, they praised the World Honored One with verses: World Honored One, well spoken is the cutting off of the limit of existence. If the guide has not found the essence of existence, those unskilled beings, with fear, strive to cross to the other shore of samsara. The aggregates are not observed at all, with the characteristic of aggregates, the aggregates are emptiness. Whatever becomes the antidote to any dharma, because it is empty of characteristics, there is nothing at all. Because it is empty of own-being, whatever thing, should be fully known and should be abandoned.
