Third, the chapter of expecting the king. Third, the chapter of expecting the king. Then, King Śuddhodana and the Śākyas rode their horses to the dismounting place, dismounted from their horses. Surrounded by walking attendants and guided in front, they arrived at the Nyagrodha garden. At that time, the Blessed One, knowing that King Śuddhodana was very arrogant, walked in the sky, more than one person's height above the ground, in order to make King Śuddhodana have faith. At that time, when the Blessed One was walking like that, Brahmā, the lord of the Sahā world, walked on the right side as an attendant. On the left side, Indra, the lord of the gods, walked as an attendant. In this way, when the Blessed One was walking, the kings of the gods, Akaniṣṭha, Tuṣita, Nirmāṇarati, and Paranirmita-vaśavartin, waved umbrellas and whisks to honor the Blessed One. The great kings Vaiśravaṇa and Dhṛtarāṣṭra also took off their upper garments, baring one shoulder, knelt with their right knees on the ground, folded their palms towards the Blessed One, prostrated themselves before the Blessed One and stood there. The great kings Virūḍhaka and Virūpākṣa also took off their upper garments, baring one shoulder, knelt with their right knees on the ground, folded their palms towards the Blessed One, prostrated themselves before the Blessed One and stood there. At that time, the sons of the gods of the four great kings, as well as the sons of the gods of the Thirty-three, Akaniṣṭha, Tuṣita, Nirmāṇarati, and Paranirmita-vaśavartin, stayed in the sky above to make offerings to the Blessed One, scattering celestial utpala flowers, lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, celestial mandārava flowers, great mandārava flowers, and celestial incense powder. To make offerings to the Blessed One, celestial musical instruments, cymbals, and songs also resounded in the sky above.

The earth resounded. The sound of a song transcending fire also arose from the empty space. A drizzling rain of incense also fell from the clouds. Heavenly Utpala flowers and a rain of heavenly sandalwood powder also fell. Then, at that time, the Blessed One manifested such a miraculous display that gods and humans could see each other, he manifested such a miracle. Then, King Śuddhodana also saw those gods making offerings to the Blessed One. He also saw that the tiered houses made of the seven precious substances of the gods filled the sky, and he thought to himself: How wonderful are the words spoken by the Blessed One! Previously, when the Blessed One was young, he said this: It is not so amazing that I have dominion over the four great continents, but I will have dominion over the Dharma in the three thousand great thousand worlds, among gods and humans. The Blessed One's dominion over the Dharma is like this! I am merely surrounded by humans, but the Blessed One has become surrounded by gods and humans! Then, King Śuddhodana arranged his upper garment on one shoulder, placed his right knee on the ground, bowed his head to the feet of the Blessed One, and spoke these words: Blessed One, as soon as you were born, you took seven steps on the great earth without relying on anyone, looked in the four directions, and said: I am the most supreme in the world! I am the most noble in the world! I am the most excellent in the world! I will put an end to birth, old age, and death. When he said these words, I also bowed my head to the two feet of the Blessed One. When the Blessed One went to the village of the farmers and sat in the cool shade of the Jambū tree, even though the sun had set, the shadow of the Jambū tree did not leave the body of the Blessed One, and six young sons of the gods joined their palms, prostrated, and sat down, at that time I also prostrated to the Blessed One. I will also prostrate to the Blessed One in this way three times. After saying these words, in verses...

These verses were also spoken. When you, the chief of two-legged beings, were born, you walked seven steps on this great earth, saying: I am the supreme in the world. At that time, I prostrate to you, the wise one. When the great sage entered the womb of the farmer, the shade of the Jambudvipa tree did not abandon you, and six young gods attended to you. At that time, I prostrate to you, the worthy of offerings. I also, here and to you three times, prostrate to the feet of you, the capable one. You possess great compassion, and are the chief of those worshiped by gods and humans. There is no one like you in the world, what more to say? The name is Siddhartha, this was said beforehand, it was the name given after consideration by the father and mother. Because you have perfected your aspirations and attained the nectar, I praise you as Siddhartha. Then, the gods who dwell in the realm of desire, at that time, prepared the lion throne for the Bhagavan, spread out the wish-fulfilling cloth of the gods, and arranged it in various ways. The Nyagrodha garden, which is endowed with everything, was also covered with the wish-fulfilling cloth of the gods. Above, a canopy of wish-fulfilling cloth of the gods was also hung. Then, the Bhagavan descended from the posture in space and sat on the prepared seat. King Śuddhodana, together with his retinue, bowed his head to the feet of the Bhagavan and sat on one side. The gods who dwell in the realm of desire and the gods who dwell in the realm of form also bowed their heads to the feet of the Bhagavan and remained in the sky. Here, this is the Dharma nature, and it should be said thus. In the excellent city called Kapilavastu, in the delightful Nyagrodha garden, when King Śuddhodana met the protector of the world, many beings gathered, the Asuras and the king of the Garuda, the Naga hosts and the Kumbhandas, and the kings of the Gandharvas also gathered. Likewise, the lords of secrets also gathered, the hosts of the Kimnaras and humans, and the gods who dwell in the realm of desire, those who are extremely delighted, also gathered. Likewise, those belonging to the realm of form, the Brahmas and the retinues of Brahma, and the gods of clear light and the gods of increasing virtue, and so on,
