Explaining the sixth pārājika. Explaining the sixth pārājika. The Buddha, the Bhagavan, was dwelling in Śrāvastī, in the Jeta Grove, in Anāthapiṇḍada's monastery. At that time, in Śrāvastī, there was a young incense seller who was handsome, beautiful, and pleasing to behold. He took a wife from his own clan, and he played, rejoiced, and enjoyed happiness with that wife. Not long after he took her, the bhikkhunī Thullānandā became attached to that young incense seller. She went to the young incense seller and said, "Handsome one, are you pleased with your new bride?" He replied, "Venerable lady, whether I am pleased or not, what need do you have of this? Whether I am not pleased, what need do you have of this?" When he had spoken thus, Thullānandā said to the young incense seller, "I think I can do something that is needed with you. If you cannot bear even a little, then that is the end of it." Then the young incense seller thought, "This bhikkhunī has become attached." She went to him again and again, making signs, setting times, showing indications, and also making flirtations, seductions, and caresses. Then, at another time, when the young incense seller came to Thullānandā, she overpowered him and laid him down. Then Thullānandā went outside the monastery, washed her hands and feet, instructed her students and attendants, and then went and sat in a secluded place with the young incense seller. After a while, she made him engage in sexual intercourse. At that time, Thullānandā thought, "Whatever I am that goes before all the bhikkhunīs is due to the kindness of abiding in the precepts, asceticism, and pure conduct. If I, having committed such a transgression, cause the bhikkhunī to be lost, who will question me?" Thinking and contemplating in this way, Thullānandā said to the young incense seller, "Handsome one, go, go." Then the young incense seller thought

She thought, 'This thing doesn't eat ghosts, it seems like a bad thing.' So she let it go. Then, Spom-ga-mo leaned back comfortably, bent her right leg, and kicked the incense-selling boy, breaking two ribs. Then, the incense-selling boy ran away vomiting blood. After that, Spom-ga-mo sat in the middle of the summer house and shouted: 'Subdued the demon! Subdued the demon!' When the nuns heard this, they said: 'Sister, have you realized the fruit of stream-entry? Or the fruit of once-returning? Or the fruit of non-returning? Or the supreme fruit of Arhatship?' When you were young, others planted roots of virtue in the Buddha's teachings. She said: 'Nothing at all.' They said: 'Then, what kind of demon have you subdued?' She said this most of the time. Then, the nuns said to Spom-ga-mo: 'You have only met a deceiver, and if that is the case, you will be punished.' Then, many nuns, even though Spom-ga-mo spoke, were neither happy nor angry. Neither happy nor angry, they rose from their seats and left. Then, many nuns told the monks about the situation. The monks also reported to the Blessed One. Then, the Blessed One, starting from this event, this topic, this thing, this occasion, up to benefiting many beings, and correctly revealing to gods and humans, should be spoken as before. Furthermore, the foundation for training in discipline should be recited by the female disciples as follows: Moreover, any nun who, being lustful, communicates with a lustful man, or makes an appointment, or shows a sign, or is frivolous and flirtatious, or makes a smacking sound, causing a man to come and possess her, and in any place where a woman is allowed to go with a man and there is no turning back, bends her body, if a nun commits an offense in these eight places,
