Eleventh, explaining the Sanghavasesa of following the assembly. Eleventh, explaining the Sanghavasesa of following the assembly. Then, the Blessed One, while seated on that very seat, intending to establish the second foundation of training for the disciples in the Vinaya, addressed the monks: Monks, the Sangha has some business, do not rise from your seats for a while. The Buddhas, the Blessed Ones, knowingly act, etc., as before. The Buddha, the Blessed One, rebuked Kokalika, Khandadhabyā, Kaṭamorakatīṣya, and Samudradatta. Kokalika, Khandadhabyā, Kaṭamorakatīṣya, Samudradatta, you knowingly befriend a monk who acts harshly in order to divide the harmonious Sangha, initiating and upholding a dispute of division, following discordant speech, and saying to the monks: Venerable ones, whether good or bad, do not say anything about this monk. Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya, this monk initiates and upholds the true Dharma and Vinaya, and then comments on it, this monk speaks knowingly, not unknowingly, whatever this monk likes and tolerates, we also like and tolerate, is that true? Venerable ones, no. The Buddha, the Blessed One, rebuked what is not the way of a monk, not in accordance, not proper, not in accordance with the rules, this is not what a renunciate should do, etc., as before. Then, the Blessed One rebuked in various ways, and then addressed the monks: Monks, therefore, having truly observed ten benefits, the foundation of training should be established for the disciples in the Vinaya, etc., as before. My disciples should recite the foundation of training in the Vinaya as follows: One, two, or more monks who befriend that monk, following the monk who speaks discordantly,

There are some people. If they say to the monks, "Venerable ones, whether good or bad, do not say anything about this monk. Why is that? Venerable ones, this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya. This monk has correctly taken up the Dharma and Vinaya, completely grasped them, and then explains them. This monk speaks wisely, not ignorantly. Whatever this monk likes and endures, we also like and endure." If they say this, then the monks should say to those monks, "Venerable ones, do not say that this monk is a speaker of the Dharma, a speaker of the Vinaya. This monk has correctly taken up the Dharma and Vinaya, completely grasped them, and then explains them. This monk speaks wisely, not ignorantly. Venerable ones, you should not want to divide the Sangha, venerable ones, you should want the Sangha to be harmonious. Venerable ones, you should be in harmony with the Sangha. The Sangha is harmonious and undivided, joyful everywhere and without dispute, supreme and unified, with one voice, like water and milk mixed together. If you can clarify the teacher's teachings, you will abide in happiness. Venerable ones, you should exhort them to abandon this behavior of following the division of the Sangha and speaking disharmoniously. When the monks exhort those monks in this way, if they abandon that basis, that is good. If they do not abandon it, then in order to make them abandon that basis, they should be exhorted two
