The Section of King Crown. The Section of King Crown. King Great One, furthermore, I gave alms for the sake of seeking the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, and did virtuous deeds. Listen to what I did. King Great One, in the past, in the country of Mithila, the last of them was a king named Crown, a king of Dharma, possessing Dharma, a king abiding in Dharma. He, together with his queen, prince, ministers, market supervisors, townspeople, and villagers, practiced Dharma, gave alms, did virtuous deeds, observed the upavasatha, and lived with proper discipline. At that time, the lord of the gods, Indra, gathered in the Sudharma Hall, the assembly place of the thirty-three gods, and praised those who had come, saying: Friends, it is well gained that those with excellent bodies have gained it. The king of those with excellent bodies, Crown, is a king of Dharma, possessing Dharma, a great king abiding in Dharma. He, with his queen... up to practicing Dharma together and abiding with proper discipline, as before. Friends, do you wish to see King Crown? Kauśika! Excellent! Friends, therefore, wait a moment, and I will examine King Crown. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, just as a strong person extends his arm from being bent or bends it from being extended, the lord of the gods, Indra, disappeared from among the thirty-three gods and went to the palace of King Crown in Mithila, saying: Crown, your gain is well gained! Because the thirty-three gods are gathered in the Sudharma Hall, the assembled ones are praising you, friends, it is well gained that those with excellent bodies... up to abiding with proper discipline, as before. Crown, do you wish to see the thirty-three gods and go there? Kauśika!

I prostrate and pay homage to the gods of the Thirty-three! Muhurta, you stay here for that! I will bestow upon you the chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences. Enter it and do not waver! King Muhurta heard from Indra, the lord of the gods, "So be it." Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, went among the gods of the Thirty-three and said to the charioteer Mala-gadu: Mala-gadu, go quickly with the chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences to where King Muhurta is, who is devoted to the Dharma, and say this: Muhurta, Indra, the lord of the gods, has bestowed upon you this chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences, so enter it and do not waver! Kauśika (कौशिक, Kauśika, Kauśika, the epithet of Indra), what you have said is indeed true. The charioteer Mala-gadu, having heard from Indra, the lord of the gods, quickly prepared the chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences and went to where King Muhurta was, and upon arriving, he said this: Muhurta, Indra, the lord of the gods, has bestowed upon you this chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences, so please enter it and do not waver! When the great king, King Muhurta, entered the chariot endowed with a thousand intelligences, the charioteer Mala-gadu said to King Muhurta: From where shall your chariot be driven? From where sentient beings who are doers of evil deeds experience the ripening of sinful, unwholesome actions, or from where sentient beings who are doers of virtuous deeds experience the ripening of virtuous actions? Mala-gadu, therefore, look at both where there are sentient beings who are doers of evil deeds experiencing the ripening of sinful, unwholesome actions, and where there are sentient beings who are doers of virtuous deeds experiencing the ripening of virtuous actions. Drive the chariot separately to where they are! Then, the charioteer Mala-gadu, by all means, wanted King Muhurta to see where there were sentient beings who were doers of evil deeds experiencing the ripening of sinful, unwholesome actions, and where there were sentient beings who were doers of virtuous deeds experiencing the ripening of virtuous actions.

Just as a rainbow is seen, King Mucilinda's chariot was drawn. King Mucilinda went into the midst of the thirty-three gods, and King Mucilinda entered the gods' assembly hall, Sudharma. Indra, the lord of the gods, offered King Mucilinda half a seat, and King Mucilinda and Indra, the lord of the gods, sat on half a seat each. Great King, when King Mucilinda and Indra, the lord of the gods, sat on half a seat each, there was no difference, thought, or distinction whatsoever. The only difference was that Indra, the lord of the gods, did not blink his eyes. Then, King Mucilinda saw his own perfect sacrifice, and at that time he spoke in verse: Having done good deeds, and likewise, having seen evil deeds done, those who act recklessly, pitiful lowlifes. Then, Indra, the lord of the gods, said to King Mucilinda: Mucilinda, stay here and enjoy yourself happily! Possessing and endowed with the five qualities of desire, play and have fun! Enjoy yourself happily! Enjoy yourself with joy and delight! He spoke in verse: Just as vessels and chariots, being despised is only temporary, similarly, this place too, power is transferred by others. From here, having gone to Mithila, doing many good deeds, having accumulated perfect merit, then one will come to heaven. Having come to Mithila, he gave alms, did good deeds, and then spoke in verse: Whenever kshatriyas, brahmins, vaishyas, shudras, chandalas, and those impoverished barbarians are given to, that giving is praised by the holy gifts. Giving alms in times of famine, satisfying noble beings, abandoning the evil realms, one is honored here and also in heaven. Having known this benefit, the wise give alms. Through giving, one obtains liberation, power, divine status, and wealth. Great King, at that time, at that moment, the wheel-turning King Mucilinda, having gone into the midst of the thirty-three gods, became the lord of the gods, Indra.
