Same. Thus, even if lines are drawn, if the image does not go on the lines, or even if it does, it is important to avoid these faults in the drawing style. Such as the faults of Koskya's neck and hips being long and thick; the faults of ears, nose, and fingers being short; the faults of hips, face, and cheeks being thick; the faults of chin, chest, and ribs being flat; the faults of breasts, nose, and forehead, eyes being crooked; the faults of body, waist, and navel being defective; the faults of ears, lips, forehead, and nose being defective; the faults of back light, umbrella, and decorations being crowded; the faults of the upward-looking cushion being crooked and the hand gestures being wrong; the faults of joints, abdomen, and nails being thick; the faults of ears, eyes, and nails being short; the faults of eyes, hands, and feet being short; the faults of having an expression like a sad face, an open mouth, and eating something sour due to the feeling of suffering. It is said that these faults will bring many inauspicious things to the painter, the patron, and the region. Therefore, examine carefully and avoid faults. The Hearers and Solitary Buddhas who have come to this world are of human size, so the height is four and a half cubits. It is said that each cubit has the height of one face or one 'tho'. However, there is not much certainty in human size, so it is permissible to draw as beautifully as possible. Therefore, for the deity image, according to the Men Thangpa style, the face size of five and a half is the best. However, there are no fixed lines for the deity image, so can it be drawn as beautifully as possible? The main thing is the similarity. For the above Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, peaceful images, even if there are some slight mentions of line measurements for the head space, back light, lotus seat, and throne, there is no certainty because of the differences in drawing styles. Those should not be drawn crowded and small, others can be drawn as desired. Because Men Thang, Khyentse, Jowo, etc., have different ways of making back lights and thrones, they can be drawn as desired. In order to easily understand the line measurements of peaceful images, this was quickly written by Bhikshu Karma Araga on the tenth day of the middle summer month of the Ox year (the Ox year may refer to 1649), according to the wishes of the incarnate Lama Namgyal. Emaho! The king of tantras, the Root Tantra of the Compendium of Intentions and its root commentary, and the first holy Buddha Kalachakra, and the great commentary Vimalaprabha. Regarding the intentions of these, like the incarnate artist Men Thang Chenmo, the oral transmission of the instructions is without error.

Therefore, for the benefit of all painters, in a concise and easily understandable manner, if there are any errors in this work, I confess to the noble ones who possess the eye of Dharma. By the merit of writing this, may I, with a precious boat, completely cross the endless river of samsara, be born in the pure land of Great Bliss in the west, transformed in an excellent lotus, and please the protector Amitabha by offering to him. Mangalam! "Large part," "palm," "face," "one cubit," "one palm," and "one face size" all mean the same thing. Four fingers are called a foot. One-eighth of a finger is called a barleycorn.
