A General Explanation of the Empowerment of Jamyang A General Explanation of the Empowerment of Jamyang The general explanation of the empowerment of Jamyang is as follows: Now, this time, you all will be granted the individual empowerment of the venerable Manjushri. Moreover, the essence of this noble Manjushri is that he is the self-form that embodies the wisdom of all Buddhas, a hero emanated from a single body. Therefore, from the very beginning, his essence is no different from that of all Buddhas, yet he performs various great deeds of a Bodhisattva. That is, in the past, countless eons ago, Manjushri became a prince named 'Assembly of King Power.' He made limitless offerings to the Buddha Precious Essence, generated the mind of enlightenment, and made vast prayers. For countless eons, he worked for the benefit of sentient beings, and it is said that he alone placed Buddhas, as many as the sands of the Ganges, on the path to enlightenment and also saw them teaching the Dharma in their respective Buddha-fields. So, what need is there to say that he himself attained enlightenment long ago? However, by the power of his vows and compassion, he takes the form of an eight-year-old Bodhisattva, benefits sentient beings, and his bodily manifestations pervade all Buddha-fields. In particular, on the five peaks of Mount Wutai in China, Manjushri abides in the form of the five families, so the people of China are intelligent and skilled in crafts. Arapacana (藏文:ཨ་ར་པ་ཙ་ན་,梵文天城体:अ र प च न,梵文罗马拟音:Arapacana,汉语字面意思:无垢语) knows without needing to be taught. Moreover, Manjushri alone is the one who holds, protects, and propagates the Buddha's teachings in all realms of the world. As the Root Tantra of Manjushri says: 'After the Sage passes into complete Nirvana, in order to protect the sacred Dharma, at that time, the constant protector is Manjushri.' So it is said. Among the tantras translated into Tibetan are the Root Tantra of Manjushri, the One Hero Sadhana, the True Praise of Names, and many others. It is said that there are also many untranslated ones, such as the Sixty Thousand Magical Nets. In India, one Pandit took Manjushri as his Yidam, and after seeing his face, he became proficient in all the Dharma categories of Manjushri.

became, and his name was also known as Manjushri Mitra. Pandit Jita Ripada Drala Namgyal actually met Manjushri, requested teachings and attained accomplishment. He gave the Manjushri empowerment to an old, hunchbacked buffalo herder. That person prayed to Manjushri, and after five days, he understood that all dharmas are self-liberated, and became known as Pandit Sgeg Pai Dorje. Also, in India, Pandit Sumati Kirti gave the Manjushri empowerment to a ninety-nine-year-old man, and the old man prayed for one day. Morning and evening, Manjushri appeared and blessed the old man, transforming him into a nine-year-old boy, who knew the three pitakas and became known as Pandit Manjushri. These three pandits composed many Manjushri sadhanas, most of which were also translated into Tibetan. In Tibet, during the early dissemination of the teachings, King Trisong Detsen and Thonmi Sambhota, and during the later dissemination, Putowa and Sharawa, Sakya Jamyang Duntrug, etc., many incarnations of Manjushri appeared. The great accomplished Pakshi in China saw a Manjushri with many faces and hands, which had not been known to others before, so he made a rough sketch of it. From then on, he often saw white and yellow Manjushri, etc., and was blessed. Pakshi used the three Kangyurs as a basis, and wrote treatises with three commentaries. All the Kangyurs resided in his self-born mind, so when he proofread books, almost all the omissions and errors in the books could be corrected from his mind. Pakshi said that he could not forget what he had seen once during his prime. Rolpai Dorje opened the scriptures and slept with them under his head, and as a result, all the contents were imprinted in his mind morning and evening, and so on, there are many such stories. Shamar Drakpa Senge saw Manjushri riding a lion, and from then on, everyone often saw him, and he had no obstacles in teaching, debating, and writing. In particular, when the Sixth Karmapa gave teachings in Ngamring, from the sixth to the fifteenth, he personally saw various incarnations of Manjushri and praised them. The Karmapa himself also acknowledged that he was no different from the essence of Manjushri, and he also created his own name "Tra Shyonnu Dzeggu". Manjushri's
