It is sufficient to simply say, "Please accept the eighth branch, O Bhikshu." At the end, one should say, "This is a skillful means for oneself." Then say, "Very good." Even if one receives it after sunrise, it is not permissible to retract it, for retraction would become an obstacle to virtue. Therefore, one should prioritize the necessity and do as before. Otherwise, if one were to prevent it merely because the time for taking vows is late, what should one do if there is no thought of renunciation, as it is said that vows do not arise without it? At that time, just as it is not permissible to retract after saying, "You do not have a mind of renunciation, so vows will not arise," so it is. If one retracts, not only the vows themselves, but even the mere good wishes that accord with the vows will become an obstacle or have faults, so one must remain neutral, as in the case of performing many ordinations and full Bhikshu ordinations at the same time. Furthermore, there are many different customs, and even if one forgets to observe and eats food, one can take the vows again. It is also said that there is a one-and-a-half-day fast. In short, one cannot be satisfied with seeing only one aspect; in general, one must also know the specific circumstances, times, occasions, necessities, and so on. Finally, reciting the precepts: Thinking that one will observe the precepts as the previous noble Arhats observed them, one should repeat after this. Bhikshus, please listen. Just as the noble Arhats, for as long as they lived, abandoned killing and returned from killing, so too, I, who am called by this name, from this time until the sun rises tomorrow, and for as long as I live, on the eighth and fifteenth days of the lunar month, will abandon killing and वापस(藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思)return from killing. With this first branch, I will follow the precepts of the noble Arhats. I will practice accordingly. I will act accordingly. Furthermore, just as the noble Arhats, for as long as they lived, abandoned taking what is not given, engaging in unchaste conduct, lying, grain alcohol, distilled alcohol, intoxicants that lead to carelessness, singing, dancing, the sound of music, garlands, applying perfume, wearing ornaments and colors, high beds, large beds, and untimely food, untimely

Just as one turns away from impure food. I, named so-and-so, from this time forth, until the sun rises tomorrow, and for as long as I live, will not take what is not given on the eighth day of the lunar month, will not engage in impure conduct, will not lie, will not drink grain alcohol, mixed alcohol, or intoxicating places of heedlessness, will not listen to songs, dances, and musical instruments, will not wear garlands, apply perfumes, ornaments, and colors, will not sit on high beds and large beds, will abandon untimely food, and will turn away from untimely food. With these eight branches, I will follow the training of those noble Arhats, I will practice, I will do. Say it once. One should say, "It is expedient" and "Good." Secondly, if one is unable to take it in front of another person later, one takes it with a ritual in front of a sacred object. Having placed the perception of the teacher, etc., as real on those sacred objects, with the intention of wanting to take the vows, make three prostrations, kneel down, and join the palms. Pray to the teacher to consider. I, named so-and-so, from... until the sun rises tomorrow, I pray that the teacher will accept me to observe the eight-branched fast, like that three times. Finally, believing that the teacher will say, "It is expedient," one says, "Good." When speaking of the precepts, one also says, "Pray to the teacher to consider," etc., once. If one is unable to do the ritual in this way, then one takes it with faith, as explained in the "Order." If there is a giver of vows, he should summarize the benefits of keeping the vows, that one will temporarily obtain the support of gods and humans, and ultimately attain the state of Buddhahood, etc., and should speak according to the occasion. If one wishes, one can briefly mention the benefits of the teachings: the protector will attain the state of Arhat in the teachings of Maitreya in the future, as it is said in the "Maitreya Prophecy Sutra": "The fourteenth and fifteenth, and the eighth day of the month, in the month of miracles, holding the eight branches well, practicing fasting, he will come to my teachings." This meaning will be fully proclaimed. Moreover, the protector will temporarily obtain the great

And thus becomes powerful, ultimately attaining the state of Buddhahood. As Indra and Shakyamuni Buddha both agreed: On the eighth day of the waxing moon, and in the month of miracles, if one keeps the eight precepts of the Upavasa, one will become like me. As it is said in the Essence of the Ocean of Vinaya: The temporary result is gods and humans, and the ultimate result is the three Bodhis, one will obtain them. Thus it is said. Generally, in the statements of the Sutra Pitaka, it is said that there is keeping the Upavasa for the sake of other beings' basis, but that is another system, and it only refers to intermediate virtue. In this Vaibhashika system, it is not the vow of Upavasa, and the vow of half-day or one-day Upavasa is not the real one, because it is only good conduct and intermediate virtue. Although fasting has the name of Upavasa, the meaning is different, because fasting means staying in the yoga of the gods, abstaining from food and drink and staying in a state of hunger. And the meaning of the word Upavasa is to be close to attaining the state of Arhat. However, both admit that it is only for one day, and they are similar in admitting to abandoning the eight things to be abandoned. This passage was also written by someone named "Study and Practice" with the intention of benefiting others. The engraver is his own servant, named Jamyang Gyatso. Mangalam! The method of taking the vows of Upavasa.
